You got CCR in my head brother, "up at Cody's camp I spent my days, oh, with flat car riders and cross-tie walkers. Old Cody, Junior took me over, said, you're gonna findthe world is smould rin an' if you get lost come on home to Green River." Lookin' good!
W, That's a nicely done scene. the tree branch dipping in the stream is a great touch. Care to share any techniques?
There have been several covers of that song. A couple of years before Talking Heads, Foghat did their version. Others before and since....
The tree dipping in the water was my friend's idear. The line from the song seemed to fit. I dunno if I should post my techniques on the internets or wait for a magazine article... 'sides my techniques are nothing you have not already heard of anyways.
I've always been afraid to do water. I want to put in a small stream but I keep putting it off. HO or N it's the same technique isn't it?
Yep, same thing. Hey as good as you're scenery looks I wouldn't be afraid to try . Its really easy......Mike
I put off pouring the main river on the Jacalar many times, being afraid of how it would come out, and I think the recent photos I posted show my accomplishment. The key is that it wasn't that difficult to do, but took over two weeks! Each layer need 24 to 36 hours to dry before pouring the next one, and the one time I rushed, it created a "problem" that I turned to an advantage (I ended up with some milky white areas on an interface, from moisture... They became parts of the rapids)
I've read threads on doing water but there were so many different methods and opinions and materials used that it left me confused as to how to get started. I was thinking of making a small dio just to see if I can do it and if it looks good to me. Thinking of doing an old swimming hole scene with boys skinny dipping. Oh well, I'm sure nobody makes those figures
BLMA's mooners might help Candy. They just might have more "tude" than you want. I have found that modeling the moving water was REALLY easy. As the old adds used to say "Look at that shine!"
You're welcome?!? If you have been involved in a static grass related arrest, call the law offices of...
Candy- Grab some scraps of lumber, etc, and do some practicing on the work bench. After you feel comfortable with your techniques, then start in on your layout.
Yes Candy, as the Milwaukee Road lover says, feel free to "sparement" on some scraps of something first. Do not feel that you are tied to any one method or material. Try a few different ones. I found that a painted styrene base and gloss medium worked well for slowly moving water. I have also poured Envirotex to make a great looking lake. It was fun sprinkling green fine ground foam into the lake for some algae effects. I hope to try adding some lilly pads to one area of stagnent river soon. I'll post pics later. Marshes are real easy too. I'll post that pic later as well...
