After being sick last week I finally finished these cars, also decaling ribbed side cars takes a lot longer than smooth side cars. This is the second Morrison-Knudson Covered Hopper, that I did out of their fleet of 274 cars. Atlas PS2 2003 CF Covered Hopper painted Armour Yellow and lettered with Herald King Decals. This is a McKeen Models ACF Exterior Post Boxcar that I am using to stand in for a Major-Freuhauf X74 Boxcar. Substituted a X-Panel Roof from a Branchline Berwick kit to replicate the difference between the X71 and X74 Boxcars. All were used for clean lading products, mostly paper loading. Floquil PC Green paint and lettered with Microscale Decals. This is an Eel River Models, 62' PC&F RBL used for hauling Coors Beer from Golden Co. Assembled the flat kit and painted with Scalecoat Aluminum and Armour Yellow and lettered with Microscale Decals. Thanks for looking! Rick J
Candy, Excellent shots as previously. The old, somewhat deteriorating brick factory is great. but I really have to ask-What do you use to make your streets? Plaster, drywall mud, or ? As a Michiganian, I really need a good way to model the potholes, rough pavement, etc. as you have done very well.
I use drywall mud. I use masking tape every place I don't want the mud to stay, like the sidewalks. I pull the tape off when the mud is still wet. I try to do the roadway as well as I can to reduce sanding. I paint it with WS slate gray and weather it with white chalk. You will like the way if comes out.
Here are some pictures by Phil Rawlins of the H0 scale SAMRA club fun run operations. SSW GP9 Black Widow, SSW RS3 Bow Wave, Espee S4 Tiger Stripe, and SSW GP20 Bloody Nose. Burlington on the bridge. Burlington lashup enters the yard. Burling resting. We did run this 17 engine lashup. Looked good. All types of engines but all Atlas manufacture, IIRC.
Just got home. I've been in the hospital since 9:00am. Had my surgery, woke up without any problem for a change. All went well. I'll know if it was a success in 4-8 weeks. If it works, I'll get my illiostomy bag reversed & get closer to normal. Happy Easter everyone.
Nice picture, Mike. FWIW, there are a lot of nice, screensaver type pictures here on TB. On my monitor, the oversize pictures are reduced and have a narrow, cream colored strip at the top. Click on that and you can see the full size picture. Impressive! You can post these directly to the screen saver thus getting a new one every few days. That is all I know. :highfive:
Candy, How large is your diorama? It looks like it's at least 5 or 6 feet long, but photographic parallax can do that, so I am probably wrong. You have certainly captured the feeling of today's economy with the deserted streets and clutter. Great job!
I've built two that are 2 X 4 and one that is 2 X 6. That are all jointed together. I hope to make it longer. I have the space but it's slow because of $$$$$
Love it all. Candy as usual amazing work. BTW is that Mustang offer in Ho or 1:1 scale? if 1:1 Ill take 3!
