I watch the You Tube site regularly and do a lot of searching. Below is a link to the EM-1 with added sound module. Loco just released in November and sound module a few days ago. SoundTraxx has the Bachmann 2-8-8-4, EM-1 CV's with three whistles listed. I bet the other new sound ones will show up pretty soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kfF3VbQTR8 I would take time to search You Tube regulrly. Rich
Its a shame Soundtrax didn't use the hooter whistle from the N&W 1218 instead of the B&O three chime, it would have been a much closer match to the prototype. the EM-1 had none of the whistles provided in the sound module.
EM-1 No idea if the whistle decision is made by SoundTraxx or Bachmann. I doubt we will ever know. Bachmann is run by bean counters. SoundTraxx , maybe some model railroaders but probably not the software people who do the sounds. A few are switching over to the TSU1000 heavy steam. Rich
Has anyone here that runs straight DC have any problems with the locomotive wanting to stop, then start up again or stop entirely?
I saw one today for the first time running on DCC. Very nice engine. The owner said he had to install the sound module option. Easy to do.
I don't understand much about this, but the owner said it came with a speaker and a decoder installed. He had to install the sound module in the tender. It is just a PC board that fits into place. If you don't ask for (purchase) sound, you don't get the engine with the PC board. The engine ran fine right out of the box. I saw that the slow speed capability was excellent. Excellent detail, too. I'll ask more when I see him today, hopefully. Also, he said the "chuff" sound and the drivers were well synchronized. He did not have to adjust it at all.
EM-1 I could explain it but I will let you go to the Bachmann site and read up on it. A picture is worth a thousand words. http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/index.php Look in the HO section for EM-1 discussions. Rich
Not the best video yet but heres mine with the stock sound mudule installed.sounds pretty much the same as Bachmanns H-4 2-6-6-2 http://youtu.be/VKysxo0Hf1E
The only issue I have running on DC is that when in reverse, the front headlight pulsates like some kind of deranged Mars light! I do have an N scale dual mode decoder engine that acts the same way you describe unless the track is absolutely spotlessly clean.
