I can't believe no one else has posted this - Fox Valley Models today announced another ES44 - this one the C4 version the BNSF has been testing and just ordered a whole bunch. Interesting part is this is not a pre order situation. They are available NOW in four different (and correct) numbers! Mr. Wallet just took a major hit. It's nice to have a manufacturer who "gets it" Matt's also had them painted in a lighter shade of orange to appease those who felt his BNSF was too dark...
What are you doing Jim! (LOL) You had to bring this to my attention and now my wallet is lighter too! I think it will be interesting to see these, though my luck with the FVM quality has taken several hits lately.
I'd like to see the orange before putting the cash down. Don't own any of the FVM BNSF ones because of the orange color.
I agree with the picture thing and it does look better. However, for $90 a unit I still want to see it.
ES44C4 I hd posted on another board that all the mnufacturer would have to do is mke new truck side frames to make an ES44C4, and what do you know FVM came out with them. Thanks Matt, well done.
Saw the new orange in person at RPM. It's much better than the old runs, which Matt said he wanted to correct after all the feedback. I wouldn't wait, just buy. You'll be happy.
Yep, especially with only 400 pieces being made (100 per road number). That doesn't seem like a whole lot. I've already reserved my two. Brian
I have a hunch that the 400 pieces are just what he has RIGHT NOW - and that there will be more coming...what a great Halloween/Thanksgiving surprise!
Had it become widely accepted that the orange from the first run was truly wrong? Or, was it a matter of how they looked next to Kato units, etc? Russ
Russ, I really don't think his color was off - but the perception (and yes, I think it was widely based) is that it was too dark, especially next to the Katos which everyone runs. That doesn't particularly bother me because I know the variations in the prototype. But never let it be said that Matt doesn't listen...and you gotta give him credit for responding.
I personally liked the orange on the original runs. It's nicely muted which is good for modeling. The orange on the new units more closely reflects that used on the Kato units.
Huh, I have always thought the Kato orange was too bright based on what I have seen on the tracks here in CA and AZ. The original orange was quite acceptable. That said, I did order all 4.............
400 units is it! Unless demand justifies running more down the road at some time. At this point it looks like 400 will be plenty.
