I have aquired a couple sdp45 shells from my fathers friend who designed them and had them molded, they are made of resin and have crisp clean details. The cab and handrails are from atlas and so is the chassis. So far I have added; lift rings, mu hoses, fans, grab irons, cab shades and custom bent and built ice breakers. Cab ice breakers still need to be made. Hope you guys like it so far. -Customnscaler Niles N Scale Trainmaster
I too would be very interested in one of these shells if you can supply it, let me know via message or e-mail, many thanks ! fatalxsunrider43
Atlas chassis? I suppose by the railings it's an SD60 chassis? Nice looking shell,I could use a few myself for EL...
Hey guys thanks for the intrest, I'm not sure if I can get any more of these shells I've had them around for a couple years now and i'm just getting to them. If you are seriously interested you can send me a private message. More pics to come, thanks. -Customnscaler
I too would be interested in a shell or 2 if they become available. Major Tony Hammes did an article several months ago on building a SDP40, but I think that is a little bit too much slicing and dicing of a shell for me. Would love one that is more ready to kitbash. This model is screaming for BSB or Ohama Orange and Green.
What are you using for the frame/mechanism. I am researching a way to build an SD-40A for my future Canadian National/Illinois Central Waterloo Division layout. The SD-40A was built on an SDP-45 frame which was longer than an SD-45. At least the truck centers are longer, maybe not the frame. Thanx:tb-biggrin:
I remember catching the ex-EL CR SDP45's in Hamlet (NC) yard years ago... what an odd bird they were
IIRC this truck was designed for more flexibility especially for tigh corners. After it was installed on this unit, the unti spend a great deal of time being tested over Stampede pass. But I may be wrong about that.
