I hope for the best, but the cynical side of me thinks he just tore apart his prototype and took a few shots. Again, I wish for the best.
No News is Bad News Nothing new from Mr. Huet. I'll email him and sister tomorrow to ask why there have been no photos. Brian
Be patient gentlemen. In a few months you can have some pretty good substitutes of the Huet switchers, made by L.G. Thek Brasswork. And I know, because I'll have my four axle driven chassis with swiveling trucks and non wobbling wheels running before the shell happens. Also, I know how to design and build brass shells that nicely fit over working chassis. One more note, the chassis is designed to comfortably fit into a perfect scale and highly detailed SW-1 and a series of similar switchers, like NW-2, the TR's with Slug, Alco S1, etc...
I wanted to put exactly the same question, means it could be nice to have an "upgrade kit" for the old version.
Photos from Huet! I am pleased to be able to tell you that I have received three photos each of Mr. Huet's switchers, painted for CN and CP with some protoype-specific details. I am asking Mr. Huet if I can post these on trainboard. No word yet as to when they will be delivered, but at least I can say that they've been assembled and painted. Brian:tb-biggrin:
I would not put the effort in to upgrade the chassis; the new SW1 from Lajos will be prototypical correct with the right length hood and right size cab, I guess the old SW1 will not stand the comparison; I wouldn't bother about the chassis, get a complete new loco (build) ! Good news, Brian Looking forward to see the pictures...still the question: did he just rush them through and painted something up just because you ask? If he had trouble with the wheels, the bodies should have been built much earlier...not my business
Gerard Huet Switchers New Photos on Website It's a good point, Gerd. I will post my review when I actually get them. In the meanwhile, on his website are photos of the CN and CP switchers, so everyone can look at the paint and details. The CN style spark arrestor is a nice touch, and the paint and decals are pretty crisp. I'll let everyone know when I know as to the operation..... Brian
Seeing the pictures of completed shells, for $500.00 an SW-900 with the level of details and working chassis is the bargain of the century. No wonder it took for him several months to make two.
Looks nice but I read that the truck faces don't turn? They do look like they are part of the outer frame surface. So the axles in between must sldie accordingly. Hmmmm. .
You are right, no trucks, so the same principal as Lajos "old" SW1, but Lajos L.G. Thek Brassworks new chassis will have trucks...very interesting. Still a nice shell, maybe later to convert to Lajos chassis?
Your statement is relentless but the problem is that customers already paid a few hundred dollars cash for something that looks like wind....:tb-mad: BTW guys I write again what I put on another forum as a "stinkin' cheese eater country inhabitant: if you intend a legal action against that gentleman please tell me and I'm going to ask the french Justice Ministry of what can be done. Dom
