My History, O,S, HO, N, On30, N, HO/N, G, O, N Wow!!! 60% of the respondents are in N. Either the other scalers are not passionate enough about their scales or N is taking over. It does have its own unique charm. Surprised to see the large Z response. What, no "T" gauge selection?
That would be TT gauge actually, I believe. For myself, I model focusing in N-scale, but have a few HO scale things on the workbench to eventually be able to run on the local Free-Mo layout just be able to take part.
402 Votes!!!!!!! Actaully there is both a T and TT Gauges which for this poll both would fall under Other T scale (1:450) TT scale (1:120)
I always loved N scale, build big in a small space. Its funny how things repeat themselves. When I started to model in N scale back in 87' I didn't have much of a budget, I had a job but wanted to save up for a car. Then I went away to college and gave N modeling a break. I moved into an apartment didn't have the space for a layout (very small apartment) so when we purchased a house with my wife I couldn't resist after almost a twenty year break to start a layout in the finished attic. Then I lost my job and didn't have the budget for modeling, again I'm just getting back on my feet slowly. I've been thru some tough times but that did not stop me from modeling in the scale I love slowly.
Well I just noticed this poll today... and its been around for over 2 MONTHS!!! N scale is my primary interest; but I have Nn3, HOn3 and Z scale as well. I used to have HO as a kid, but, I really like the smaller scales for the overall effect. Detailing HO (or any other scale) down to the last nut and bolt is not my thing. I only wish there were some reasonably priced Nn3 locomotives available. Z scale is getting very interesting all of the sudden, but, still far from where N scale currently is. I only have HOn3 for 'kicks n giggles'... I don't expect to ever have a layout... but you never know!
I dabbled in HO when I was much younger. My godfather had an abandoned layout in his basement that I always played with and tried to fix up when I was over their. Always played with Lionel. Still have 2 sets, one over at my parents house that came from my grandfather, and the other is here at my home that I'll be setting up for Christmas. Been playing with N scale the past 10-12 years, just now starting to get serious about a nice layout for it.
Am I too late? I will post this anyway.. I model 35n2...what the &^$$ is that? It is a 2 foot gauge in 1:35 (military scale) running on 16.5MM track (HO, On30). I suppose that it might be considered 1n2, but that ain't quite right. Now, I'll bet you are sorry you asked. Woodie
I went ahead and edited the poll to give one more in S scale, one in Narrow Gauges and another in "other".
I model in HO, but if I was to start over I would go with 2rail O. With that being said I think some of the most innovative modeling being done is in N and Z.
I build rolling stock in O, enjoy displaying my S, and run trains in N, so I guess you can put me down for 3 scales......is that weird? Mark
O-scale Just found this board/site. I'm an SP (mainly)steam/early diesel era O-scaler (2-rail). Don't have enough room for a layout, so I concentrate on superdetailing, accurizing, weathering models; I don't know if there's even any interest out there for this. Bill
