Rob, there were ALPS OPAQUE cartridges available, don't know if this is still the case, you can lighten up every colour with them, depending on how many layers of opaque you print
Ahhh! I got 2 of those a while back, thinking they were white, but they are a bit transparent. I did not know they can stick on black.
Yes, they look white. You can only use them as a top layer, nothing sticks on it. And it doesn't work with Kodak Process Orange. Maybe that saves you a bit of ribbon...

Don, I used stripstyrene # 281 and some parts form coal loader n scale kit, modifed cut to fit parts and used CA glue. Hien.

These latest days I was working on a pair of electromagnets I'm trying on my layout. Basically these are HO #309 from Kadee. My idea beeing that the stronger the better. First I cut the subroadbed under desired location, I removed and trimmed it in order to fit within the inner plates of the electromagnet, then I set back the assembly to place (schematic below): (I specify that the 3mm - 1/8" shown above are an estimate and deal with the height difference between rail heads and the upper limit of the plates, not between rail heads and the base of the ties as the schematic could let to think) The pictures below show my work (don't care about the pen's hood and the foam piece that hold the magnets to place, these features are temporary..): (Following of the message in a few seconds…) Dom
(following of the previous message..) (Sorry for the 90° banked pics...) The small cylinder on the lower left hand of the above picture is tha capacitor provided with the kit. I set it to place carefully following the kit's instruction sheet. But when time came to proceed with a test, tremendous disappointement: nothing, absolutely nothing happened. Not the slightest twisting on my MTL couplers (however those work flawlessly with MTL permanent magnets...). There is maybe one point I could work on: on my electromagnets power comes from a 15V/3800mA powerpack when Kadee recommends 16 to 18V and 3000mA. But if SO here has any other idea, I'll listen to him with the best pleasure! Dom
AC or DC? The 1 volt difference is not it. The current rating, may be. Those things are HUGE, like HO scale. They should levitate the car !!! I'll bet the metal wheels will love those. .
It's DC. But the current rating is 3.8A instead of 3 as I said earlier... And who is able of more is able of less, isn't he? Yes, they should, were they operating properly. But as they don't....baffled: Dom

This is a double track bridge, both end using MTL, one end I cut it in half and another side is keeping them full side, main one is Robert's design, hand laying track using code 55 and the stand's hand made with wood and styrene for the skin. Now I have to figure out how to make the bridge's shoe and more details will be add as well. Hien.
Dom, Ok, I have used the now discontinued Kadee #307, but Kadee explained to me that #309 is basicly the same and #307. It has only double pole shoes. I assume the outer metal plates will optimise the magnetic field for just HO couplers. It could have a negative affect on our tiny Z couplers. Have a look at next link to a PDF which shows how I did build in the #307. http://www.home.zonnet.nl/frank.bergmans/zusa/Kadee for Z.pdf It is except for the outer plates of your #309 units identical. I use aluminum brackets to hold the coil in place. I connect the coil directly to the 10V AC outlet of my Märklin 05 electronic controller. I switch the uncouplerwith a small toggle switch. So, no capacitor inline with the coil. Also with metal wheels it works, although sometimes a single car can be moved by the magnet.
