My Athearn 2-8-0 has been misbehaving. Figured out its the ground wire from the decoder, its been just pinched against the frame by the tender box since the install since the frame is cast. Well it has oxidized and no longer makes a good connection. So I got some brass washers, next step is going to be solder that on. Then, its high time I modify the coal load to fit the decoder. I have a swatch of black neoprene mesh that I'm going to coat in glue and coal to replace the molded plastic. I'm also still working on the accompanying Overland cars' interiors. Sent from the magical mystery box
I have a GG-1 that my lovely dog Teddy's tail took a particular interest in over the Christmas season. Replacing one full set of trucks and also I am fixing the roof top snap in part that I mistakenly thought I had to correct to be accurate, shaved the clip then realized it was already accurate from factory. That ones on me!
Working on a couple Norfolk Southern high hood SD40-2s. They still need alot of work, but major surgery is done.
I have two workbenches btw I'm the only 14 right now I'm fixing up some passenger cars I got for $5 a piece
It is very refreshing to here from a younger modeler. I hope you have fun with those cars and WELCOME to TrainBoard! I hope we can see some pictures of the work you have going on at some point. Mike

Working on decaling two more SP&S geeps - 152 and 153. I have 4 now - 150 (Lowell Smith broad stripe) and 155 which I did in the tiger stripe. John
the trees are a little more vibrant in real life but anyways I think I did pretty good for a first try at super trees
You did very well from what I see. Not all trees have the same bright colors in the fall, some are a little more subdued in their colors. And some species retain their foliage until much later when they finally start to turn. So they will look good on the layout.
Just have these two on the bench. The MP 2-6-0 getting new tender trucks. The MP trucks look best for my tastes but need the better wipers. The 2-8-8-2 is next in line for final detailing after a good amount of break in running and testing with the loksound installed. After a couple of weekends of working through, I should be able to get some of this done this weekend.
Just keep chipping away at the project. One day soon you'll reach a point where it all seems to just come together.
As nice as it can be to see the end product, almost all of us can relate and love seeing the in-progress shots. Wonderful to follow along with progress (just look at the number of threads tracking/displaying construction)
