I was busy building the loading chute for the future stock yard. I found some prototype drawings and used them as guide. There were the dimensions, I calculated them to millimeter and divided by 87, ready. This way I used some stripwood which I first stained, then cut and glued. I've stained the interfaces now. This is a pic at the future stock yard site with my also now finished old double deck stock car kit from LaBelle. Wolfgang
Silver Creek has got its stock yard. ready for shipping... Now more details. How do you model the "nuggets", turds (?) ? Wolfgang
I don't know about for sheep (fantastic modeling, BTW!) but one of the Woodland Scenics sets of cows (their Holsteins) comes with 3 or 4 molded plastic cow pies... My brother in law (bless his heart) bought me the pack for my birthday because he thought it was funny...
That is a beautiful scratch project. Now that you are heavy into narrow gauge, are there any plans to dual gauge a portion of the Westport Terminal. LOL
I think about a narrow gauge layout under the layout. I think I can operate narrow gauge. I will build another town module, perhaps 10 feet long and connect this to my Fiddletown. Then I can operate it! Integrating narrow gauge into my Westport Terminal RR would be a problem. No space, wrong era and too much work. Wolfgang
Hi Wolfgang, That's beautiful work! Hope you don't mind a newbie question. Where do you get the tiny boards? I've been able to find square posts, but so far have not been able to find as you call it "strip wood". Thanks, Greg
I've ordered my stripwood from NorthEastern Northeastern Scale Lumber Company via my dealer. Kappler Kappler Scale Lumber has also fine scale wood like ties. I've used a lot of 2''x6'' and like that. Wolfgang
coal shed I've scratch build the coal shed for Silver Creek. Again, I've got the idea from Harry Brunk's book "Up Clear Creek on The Narrow Gauge". And again I've used some Northeastern stripwood, mainly 2'' x 6'' and 8'' x 8''. The tar paper roof is made from stripes of paper, painted black. Wolfgang
Yes, I've used Grandt Line 3'' NUT-4 1/2'' FLAT STEEL WASHER. Item 5099. You need hundreds. I've painted them a rusty / brown color before removing. I drilled a hole into the wood, placed a few drops of CA at a card board piece and dipped the NBWs. You can use tweezers just under the head of the NBW. Or even pick the head screw. Wolfgang
