Fabulous one and all...every one of these shots should win an award or be featured in a "Best Layouts" magazine! You all are great!
I cut them out of corrugated siding sheets from Williams Brothers. I don't know if that product is available any more. However you can get etched brass ones from N Scale Supply. M&R part # MRS-60-94.
Finally a weekend I could go out shooting! Here's a few catches this weekend. I went out in search of SD40-2's, and found none. Instead, I found a MILW hopper, with intact (albiet rusty) "America's Resourceful Railroad" placards: I found a new angle on the BNSF bridge over the Missouri, that had the GN diesel house in the shot, after seeing a Dave Blaze photo on RP.net for inspiration: Can you say "Ultimate railfan snow machine?" I knew you could: This guy's spoilin' for a fight with some obstinate snowdrifts:
I have been meaning to post a couple of pics for weeks now. I finished up some kitbashed DMIR side dump cars for my dad about 3 weeks ago. They still need to be weathered but here they are. They started out as a Walthers kit. I shortened the frame and removed a panel to get them to prototypical length. Here is a shot of the car end. Notice the ISO 2001 herald. It is a custom made decal.
Very slick, Mike! Had you not told us, I wouldn't have known any better, and thought those were factory fresh cars. The ISO decal is neat.
