I have a feeling we have seen similar craft work before... Somewhere back in the earlier days of this topic. Maybe the same source?
Yes these did appear some time back, maybe not this road name or color at the time. Lot of putty and sanding to get a decent finish needed. And the pistons and equipment for the blades is vastly out of scale. Something one would buy for a few dollars and set back in an old weed overgrown track with a tree or two overhanging it and a bunch of scrap junk around it maybe. Certainly not worth the asking price.
By seller twinrail; I have a feeling it's going to be a looooonnnnnnng time before I find one I like!!!
Yes, he has been posted by me several times for his spreaders and for his custom 'paint' jobs. I don't know why he continues to 'sell' them other than someone must occasionally buy one. The models usually look (at least partially) brush painted and he puts the silver in silver fish decals...of course this is when the picture is in focus enough to see the item. Maybe I'm too critical, but I have also done custom painting and custom casting in the past and so I'm kind of insulted at the (IMHO) very poor quality work he does. I wouldn't GIVE any of these away. Currently he has 780 items for sale, all N scale. Some of my (least) favorites: Custom painted Spectrum F unit...check out those laser straight strips: http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Cus...855066?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e97350c5a and a GP-7 with stripes...is the nose of that engine furry? http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Cus...170520?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20f22fc598 A SF wedge snow plow nicely brush painted for only $34 http://www.ebay.com/itm/SANTA-FE-N-...521532?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20d214a3fc Two Budweiser beverage trucks with a brush painted logo http://www.ebay.com/itm/BUDWEISER-B...987806?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20e875cd1e http://www.ebay.com/itm/BUDWEISER-B...223364?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e8e1c12c4 A brush painted UPS truck http://www.ebay.com/itm/UPS-STYLE-T...206737?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e8e1bd1d1 Some of his custom cabooses http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHESTNUT-RI...540990?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e85aa2bfe A B&O caboose...wrecked? http://www.ebay.com/itm/B-O-WAGONTO...693423?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20e0a2686f All you have to do is put the decal next to the rivets http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Cus...739250?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e968b6f32 Silver fish caboose http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Cus...851473?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20d7863991 Another silver fish caboose but parts of the letters are melted and missing (so he TRIED using solv-a-set?) http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACRON-CANTO...456386?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e88ff5f82 Another transfer caboose (that he's known for), mint, C-10 http://www.ebay.com/itm/FRISCO-1319...728961?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20cd161141 The side of this caboose was hit by a N scale shotgun...and those handrails must be about 2 feet around http://www.ebay.com/itm/MILWAUKEE-R...955243?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20cbd915eb More examples of his spreaders http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Cus...236789?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e7f44d6f5 http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Cus...851454?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20d786397e http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Cus...359862?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e6fa8ea36 Finally, the one I know I've posted before since it is SP. The 'bloody nose' stripes are upside down and it's brush painted. The coupler looks like it needs some adjustment too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Cus...234846?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item1e7f44cf5e Sorry, rant over...
Ok, now my rant is done, I HAD to post this. It's not N scale (but it was listed in the N scale category) but I think I want it. Best part is it has steering wheels! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Train-Fiber...873840?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20f3e5bff0
Full RETAIL for this from Kato is $300, and they want $457? http://www.ebay.com/itm/KATO-N-Scal...164258?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item19f9533ce2
I think I posted this before as well. Still listed in N scale but I hope the price is a mistake (yen to dollar conversion error?). A backpack, $417 BIN http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-PORTER-...030787?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item259c79ff03
44 Atlas freight cars plus some other stuff, $400. Of course he has a picture that shows 9 cars (2 TOFC, 2 shorty tanks, 2 mech reefers, 1 box, 1 ore, 1 flat), then two more pictures of the (non label) sides of the boxes so you can't tell WHAT cars are below the top cars in the stacks (looks like more shorty tanks and TOFC but all are not the same as the top car). No pictures of the track, transformer, or couplers...but all 'valued at $800+' http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atlas-Train...180552?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2a48cf6fc8
Just to make sure it wasn't a product name, I did search...and it's not. Fiber Blass . And for good measure, it's 115VAC. If it's got it's own wheels, gonna need a LONG extension cord.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FABULOUS-N-...091716?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2edad81c44 Boy if I only had $10,000!
Kind of a spaghetti bowl. Did I miss it, or was there a listing of any included motive power and rolling stock?
How did you guys miss this 'very optimistic' BIN item? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-AHM-N-S...917829?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item20e0d39bc5 Note particularly the Woolco $2.99 sticker still on the package's upper right front. If you're keeping score, $2.99 in 1970 was $18.20 in 2014 according to the CPI Inflation Calculator.
I wish that one of these sellers would explain just where they get their wild conceptions of how to price these. Is it after consuming a dozen bottles of beer? Using a dart board? Inhaling odd smoke?
