HI Jo... Are MTL still on target for July 09 for the release of the SD40-2's? and can you let us know any other developments like roads, DCC factory installed ect... Also this may have been covered before but are MTL using the same engine as the GP-35's? I assume it will have the same engine.... Mike.. cute:
I haven't heard anything different, so I would assume it is on schedule. I beleive it will have the same or similar motor. Being a transition guy, at first I didn't think it would interest me, but the longer I wait the more I think I want one!
Looking at the MTL website, sadly the SD40 has slipped to Sept. There appears to be a problem with the China factory that makes MTL & AZL parts, among others. For June we can expect the Amtrak passenger cars. This may be the last run till MTL decides what to release in the fall/winter. Perhaps this time they can do something PCish? It would also be nice if they could run some UP/MILW, WAB, etc where they use UP colors with connecting road names.
yes, everything from everybody is backed up. Even AZL's scheduled stuff will be set back a month or more. Sucks. They musta bit off more than they could chew with all the new customers or else.
I don't think it is that simple. One of my good friends travels to China routinely. He is tearing his hair out as the promises the factories make never come true. And this is for big molds that like SD40's for tidbits. ...don
Amtrak is not the last run...we have two more major roads starting in July. I would like to do some limited releases of the UP colors in other roads as well. Not sure of the demand, but that would be an easy one to process.
Hi Joe, Any chance there is a diner in the works? My Z scale folks can get plenty of sleep on the rails, but they get pretty mean when they are hungry! John
If this is in reference to the GP-9 can I vote for an SP Bloody Nose release to be included!? Also, since it sounds like the E7 and SD40-2 will use the same chassis is it possible that we'll see SD-9's released somewhere down the line? Keep up the excellent work!
Oh, man!! I'd take Milwaukee Road in the yellow/grey in a heartbeat!! Just round out some of the windows on the ends to look like portholes!!
Prior to that, I'm pretty sure to see here a few talented modelists who will scratchbuild one with a shortened SD40-2 chassis and a GP9 shell.:tb-wink::thumbs_up: Dom
dom, i have the SD9 shell already built, just need the mechanism. i think it will require shortening to bring it to SD9 wheelbase. espeeman, if no one else got it, i did. heh heh heh. if it was a colorado car (of similar history) the name on the car side would read "alfred e. packer". dave f.
In the Colorado Rockies Where the snow is deep and cold And a man afoot can starve to death Unless he's brave and bold Oh Alfred Packer You'll surely go to hell While all the others starved to death You dined a bit too well ---from The Ballad of Alfred Packer (Waste Not, Want Not) I have an undecorated boxcar that I've been wondering how to decorate. Thanks Dave!
