Retired from the fire service six years ago. Still chasing trains with a camera and running the layout in the basement.
What a diverse variety of folks from all walks of life... Have not seen a farmer yet though. I am an engineer of sorts designing machines that makes semiconductor wafers. I like Joe's Job.... Kim
I'm a professional engineer (civil) with experience in highway construction and land development. Became a professional land surveyor in December. I teach surveying and construction management full-time at a community college during the school year and I do boundary surveys for an engineering company in the summer.
Howly Cow !!! This has to have been the fastest posting I've see in a long time !! Way to go Tim. Ajay and Curn, make it the the GTE show March 1-2 at the Cow Palace. I am an Audio to RF guy (that's radio frequency). My father never made it out of high school but did a lot of jobs and learned a lot from them. He passed on all that knowledge over these past 50 years so I became interested in everything, including trains when I saw my grandfather's truck castings and HO wood kits. My first jobs in high school was working for the local Heathkit and the west coast premier FM station. I work at an 800 person insturmentation company based in Syracuse, NY; Köln, Germany and Balzers, Liechtenstein as an OEM Account Manager. It's mostly a Technical Marketing Job but it has allowed me to see the world on someone elses dime. Just ask Jürg, Torsja, Henrik and a host of others that I'll likely bump into somewhere. .
Just don't tell us how much you get paid for playing with trains all day. I don't think I could go to work tomorrow if I found out someone else had the worlds coolest job, and got paid ten times more than what I'm getting paid. The last time I was between jobs I played with trains all day, but I couldn't seem to make a living at it. Oh well. I suppose thats why most of us have day jobs.
I work as a tire installer for the "northwest's largest tire dealer"-Les Schwab Tires.:teeth: I work on everything from Acura's, to two story log mover's! The best times are when I get called out for service calls for either BNSF, or UP, which are both a block away from the shop!
Hi, In the past, I worked retail including 5 different hobby shops (two of which I owned). I then was trained as a Paramedic and worked drove ambulance for 6 years in Southern California. In 1995, I started manufacturing model train items and have been doing so ever since. In the near future I plan on buying a 5th wheel toy hauler trailer and converting the garage area into my workshop. I will then hit the road "full time" and see the US while continuing to make my products, go to train shows and chase trains. Thanks to all of you who have been supporting my business. Randy
I'm a graduate student in kinesiology with a research specialization in how the immune system responds to exercise. I also do some teaching. Also, apparently, these message boards don't think my field of study is a real word (I get the red "you spelled it incorrectly" underline under "kinesiology").
That's not the message board. It's your browser's spell checker. I'm glad you can spell it though because I can't. Charlie
that's great! i took Kinesiology in college along with anatomy and neuroanatomy for my Psycho-biology degree. i think all you kinesiology guys should get together and start a movement! heh heh heh. dave f.
I own and opperate a high-end custom exterior construction company here in Park City, Utah. Basically my company does one-off custom design and installation of elaborate landscape and outdoor features/structures for expensive ski resort properties. Last Fall I started a second company, North American Scale Models, and am now working two jobs.... LOL. But the new company is as some of you already know, a model railroad design and manufacturing company, so i'm working on catching up to guys like Joe D., Rob A., Rob K. and others, and working on a career that will let me work/play with trains everyday..... Tony B.... Wasatch Z Club & North American Scale Models Inc
I think you just scared the crap out of the software with that word...I can't even pronounce it! ) Joe MTL
I'm a career radio broadcaster and presently the program director of the eastern-most radio stations in the United States. We also own a gift shop (which is the hardest work I do). Charlie
Who me? I just lay around making Z scale layouts and modules for fun. I'm just completing my second bedroom sized layout in a year. Before that? I was a professional mountian climbing guide. You know. Four expeditions to the Himalayas, two to South American, four summers in the Alps, that kind of stuff. Brought 'em all back alive! Check out my photos here under Socalz44. Cheers, Jim CCRR
Jim, You have earned my respect... The last time I saw the Himalayas during my younger days I though to myself some day I'll climb it. Now I dont even think like that. If I can make it up to mission peak (2,517 feet) in Fremont I'll be happy. My hall of fame I bi-cycled it up once 6 years back.
Jim, when I get home I will post some pictures of me going to the Hymalayas. You will get a kick out of them.
I have climbed Mission Peak many times Kim! I grew up at the bottom of the hills, where I live now as a matter of fact, and used to make a couple expiditions up to the top each summer. For those that don't know, you can see the whole SF Bay Area from the top!
Rob, The BAZonians should do mission peak this summer. We should take the suitcase layout and run it on the peak. It will be like planting the Z flag. Kim
