In Great Falls, MT this weekend: Note the missing circle-cross herald! And half the lettering is gone on this one: Got any oddballs? Lessee 'em!
You KNOW if you modeled this, the proto police would have hauled you away.... I dunno if the pressure washer was set too high or what?? The odd thing was they were coupled next to each other!
Dunno if this qualifies as an oddity, but obviously the wrong type of paint was used- notice how badly it's faded. Also notice where it has been burned off above the N and S. And yes, the orange looks this crappy on the other side too.....I checked.
does this qualify? Seen a couple years ago on the old C&I (now called the BNSF main) that goes through my home town. What was really neat was several months latter I seen the same engine again.
Not such an odd scheme as it is an odd/rare engine.. This engine still has its 567 prime mover!!! Listen here: http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/930/BNSF1712.wmv This one is an odd scheme, and increasingly harder to find: In all my travels, I have only seen a small handfull!
And I thought SD20s were ugly- sheesh! Take a LifeLike SD7, add a Cannon paper air filter and EMD 40-series cab, and presto- a coyote-ugly SD.:tb-biggrin::tb-biggrin::tb-biggrin::tb-biggrin:
Must have been a recent repaint at the time I saw it. That pic was taken in Birmingham Alabama sometime in 2006. Thatis the easten end of the BNSF and is old Frisco territory.
Does the old AT&N (SL-SF) trackage south of there still exist? If so, who operates it today? Boxcab E50
