Hmmmmmm Got paint, got airbrush, but ain't got no decals!!! Ugh!!! Testors makes Floquil enamel in BNSF orange, yellow and green(for Hertiage II) and black for "Swoosh"!!!! Just need decals!!!! Hobo Tim
Got the paint. Lindley has the engine and the paint. Working on them dang decals. That is why I posted the above pictures.
Has anyone asked Microscale about doing Z scale? Just thinking they are about 30 min from me in Fountain Valley, Ca if I had a shell in hand I might be able to help in some way????
Darn it! I have the Coreldraw program to create the decals and an ALPS 1000 printer to print them. My only issue is that they are 1877 miles apart with no hope of a reunion for at least 6 more months!!!! Maybe, during this long boring weekend I will have, I could work on the artwork to create them and if I ask Robert Ray nicely enough, he could print them for me. Yes, several sets so not only I can bask in having a set but you and others too. Of course there are limits to my generosity! But I don't forsee any problems in distributing a few SD70ACe decals. That is, if I can get them made!!!! I'll see what I can do!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert Ray!!!!! I sent a package with the metal castings to you on Monday. A bit more than you asked for. Maybe today, but definitely before Friday you should have it!!! :tb-biggrin: Let me know when you get it!!!! I have a favor I'd like to ask. Hobo Tim "It's all for the Better-ment of the Hobby!"
Microscale???? I'll save you the trouble!!! Microscale is not interested in making decals for Z scale. They are all for quantity. If you have the $$$ then they might deal with you. For onesy-twosy's, give it up!!! Better to find a working ALPS 1000 printer, color cartridges and a computer to run the program than to mess with Microscale!!! Of course, you can always try!!! You have a 50% chance of getting a yes or a no. Your dime for the call, or the gas!!! But, Let Us Know what the outcome is if you do propose the question to them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I love this hobby!!! It is filled with intrigue and mystery at every turn!!!! Or is that a bridge or tunnel at every turn!!! I can't remember! Either way, I love it!!!! Hobo Tim
CSX I believe the CSX guys have them running down in the Southeast!!! O Shamooooooo!!! Show us your SD70ACe!!!!! Come on John!!!!!! Hobo Tim
Microscale will make to order z scale decals. I think London Bridge had their Lehigh Valley decals made by them.
I emailed them a couple years ago about some CSX decals and was told they need to do a run of sheets (I think it was 30 or 50 sheets if I remember correctly). So unless there's a group of Z scalers all wanting the same decal (highly unlikely), this just isn't cost effective for the average modeler, There's just not enough demand yet for them to do Z scale decals.
I had a decal issue as well when came time of redecorating one of my Geeps with Ferrocarril Chiapas Mayab / Genesee & Wyoming paintscheme. Thanks to a pair of modelrailroaders/crafstmen, one belonging to this current forum, I've been able to obtain decals for my loco. But it was costly as one of the crafstmen sold me 3 sets of decals for a rather high price, the other one asking me for 100 sets. But whichever the cost I needed the decals, and none of the major players such as Microscale was interrested in making them. Dom
Gerd's version of the big beast assembled fromTim Buehring's excellent resin cast kit, based on the master kitbash of David Freehling. New owner is Joseph D. Orach. Also in DRGW colours as David's loco with some modifications from my side: -standard super detailing -modified tank/air tank -see-through louvers at the rear -see-through stainless steel fan and fan plates -Detailed pilot with MU-hoses and MU-cable, ditchlights (no function) -etched brake wheel -GPS antenna -custom decals and pain(t) job (boy, that was fun....)
Wow!!! That is simply Beautiful!!! Love the high detail!!! I have recently obtained one of those BLMA loco detail etchings. I hope to be able to use it to make my SD70ACe look like yours. OR, are you using specially etched parts just for your shells? Are any of the detail parts from BLMA? Awesome work!!!! Hobo Tim
