Hey everyone. I was just looking at some of the most amazing custom work done by Dave Freehling and was wondering what everyone's roster is. My humble stash consists of: One Set MTL F7 A-B-B Sp Bloody Nose Hog Haulers, all powered Two MTL GP-35's SP Bloody Nose General Service Two MTL GP-9's SP Bloody Nose General Service One MTL GP-9P/R SP Bloody Nose set up for Passenger Service with powered F7 B Unit in tow. One MTL GP-35 CORP I have about 10 other projects underway of course and this list does not reflect stuff I haven't put on the track and run yet. Current hot project is 3 GP40P-2's SP Bloody Nose. These will tow my scratch built fleet of Bi-Level Commute Cars I am working on, and pending MTL Smoothside cars. Also modifying some Marklin passenger cars for SP Service as well. I need those wrapped up before the first wave of SD40-2 Chassis hit my desk and I drift down that conversion bunny hole!! )...can anyone spell SD9?? Cheers Joe MTL
My roster consists of mostly "under rebulding" trains.. before i can call my train "complete" i need to DCC it, Weather it, Add details and if it not is SP then i also need to repain it. My completly finished trains is acually just one That is my Mikado with a new tender.. I have about 10 unfinished trains, just to mention a fiew: gp38-2 GP7 GE 132 tonner gp35 f7's and a small steamengine... My plan is that when i finish my railroad, i will start to rebuild my trains again. My plan is to have about the same trains as SP had in 1967, i can accualy have about half of their fleet now, with the new MTL releases!!! Now.. I am waiting for Jürg tu sum up his trainlist
Hmm, I better don't count them. BTW Joe, I'm working on Commutercars too. Here's a good link to SP Commuters http://www.trainweb.org/fredatsf/commute.htm
Commute Nice stuff, missed those kits though. Here is a shot of some of the raw brass for my "homebrew" versions" Changed some of the details, so I am reworking the artwork and sending it off to the etcher we use here at MTL..an old friend of mine. I did these out of .05 brass and want to go thicker. Thanks for the link, didn't find this one during my research. Cheers Joe MTL
Wow, I'm at the bottom of the barrel here. I have a ABA set of MT F7's that are still running around naked. A 2-8-4 Berkshire and I'm just started a 2-10-2. At least for steam I can use N scale decals I have 2 more Marklin 2-8-2's waiting for love and a 0-6-0 (thanks to Jim) for the co-op.
Hey Chris, I'd be glad to baby sit your Berkshire for you if you ever need a break. :O) Speaking of co-op loco, Kim is supposed to send me a boiler for me to cast up in metal after I add the stack and sand domes, etc. Slowly, but surely. Loren
OHH!!!! I forgot to mention my GG-1!! IT is my best and most reliable train (eccept pulling power) IT runs SOOO quietly and smooth... IT even has a gyro light!
Loren, The delay is on only one part that I have been playing with for a long time now, the front of the boiler, I get raster lines, but last night I figured a way to have texture instead of lines so it looks like matt or sand blasted, still not 100% happy. I have been diligently working on it, a few more ideas to try then I'll pick the best method and send you the first run. Kim
My Roster consist of CSX 1 AZL AC4400CW 1 AZL SD40-2 1 MTL GP39 1 MTL GP30 slug BNSF/ BN 1 MTL GP35 1 MTL GP35 (SF) 1 MTL GP39M UP 1 AZL SD70M Amtrak 1 AZL F59PHI TRE 1 AZL F59PHI On order: 1 CSX GP40, 1 BNSF SD70, and I PN GP9
What do I have to do Joe, roll some unsuspecting Markliin dealer, smash all his display models, put ground up MTL wheels in his gas tank? Then would you let me play, huh, can I can I? Loren
Kim, don't forget to drill small holes where the domes and exhaust will go. Looking forward to it. Loren
So John, Is this a case of "he who has the most trains wins"? I suppose Jurg will win without opening his second display cabinet, but I do have one customer who has over 50 AZL locos. Now THAT is an investment! Loren
Loren, I think Jurg is afraid his wife Rose is going to stuble into this bb and finds out how much those AZLs cost. I know I am afraid when my wife finds out how much they cost. I overhear one of her conversation with her friends and she said " dont let the small size fool you, they cost $50 to $60 dollars". Believe me, I want her to think thats how much it cost.
i've got to quit building things and get on with finishing up a layout! but i'm a compulsive kitbasher. john -- almost done with the GP40. finishing up details, touch up the paint, and overspray and she should be good to go. sorry it's taken so long. (don't worry, i'll send this one by armored car!!) dave f.
All this roster talk makes me think of two things: 1.) a reminder that I need to insure this stuff (which even my wife told me I need to do just yesterday). 2.) My roster is way too diversified with too many different focuses. I need to go home and make a list. ;-) Randy
