600t of locomotives pointing in all directions is not a pretty sight. http://www.thewarailfansite.fotopic.net/c1179309_1.html Cheers David
Possibly M636. The trucks and fuel tank I would say a it's a Goninan built CM40-8M. But a quick search which found some confusing info did point to 9410 coming from BHP Iron Ore sometime around 1996 and rebuilt immediately. The Robe C/M636's should have been done by then. Word is it was a head-on involving an empty and a loaded train in a siding with possibly five locos written off through bent frames.
The derailed locos are 9406 (on its side): CM44-9CW. Built 2002 7079: CM44-9CW. Built 1995. 9410 (Robe): CM40-8M, ex-C636. Built 1971, rebuilt 1996. 9406 has some cracked welds but the frame appears to be okay, although the engine and radiators are probably damaged beyond repair. Cheers David
hey maybe they'll go and "steal" more stuff from the US. Those SD40's working for BHPIO look nice in that colour scheme.
BHPIO has more SD70ACEs on the way but is still scratching for motive power. Pilbara Rail has ordered GEVOs. These will be the first export locos to be BIGGER than the US domestic version. Longer frame for bigger radiators. Cheers David
