must be a DC loco as Kato lists the DCC / DCC+Sound as July EDIT: still cool to see one in the wild though
Fantastic! That thing looks great. I personally like the cardboard boxes that Kato has gone to with their recent steam releases.
Oh no! Where in the budget can I cut and save up some coinage? Aiiyiiyii I like it, I want it, I can't get enough of it. I even have a train for it to pull. Shout out of thanks to Kato.
Not a big fan of the plastic valve gear though. The metal rods look good, but the plastic crosshead and guide look totally out of place in comparison. It would have looked a lot better as a cast part. They cast the eccentric crank, why not the crosshead?
It looks pretty good, and hoping Kato gets the hint about more steam. I do not need one of these, and I am not going to buy one, but it does look good and from what I see online, it runs pretty good too. A great steamer for the UP fans! Hopefully, they will do some ATSF 4-8-4's and Texas Types.
I've been after Kato, to produce a 4-8-4 for years now. We don't need anymore Santa Fe, Bachmann versions. For whatever reason B-man can't get it right. Throwing in my vote for a Kato Santa Fe version of the 4-8-4. Yes, sir!
AC-9 please, both oil and coal. The Big Boy looks great, I don’t mind their crosshead choice, it’s actually pretty fool-proof compared to other manufacturers stamped and pinned versions. The dual motors are really interesting.
That is good to here. Does it look as good in person as it does in the pics? It's hard but waiting for the DCC version. The bank account and CFO don't seem to mind waiting though......
I'm running DC, very happy with it. Has some weight to it so it should pull a lot of cars. If they come out with a different # I would be looking to buy another. : )
For what kind(s) of decoder is the DCC-ready version of the Big Boy set up? And for what kind of speaker?
Hobby shop called me Friday afternoon that mine had come in, unfortunately it was too late in the day for me to go pick it up, and now I have to wait till Tuesday. The anticipation is killing me!
