Me too. I love your work. I'll be kitbashing your Field of Dreams house kit into The Farragut House in old South Boston, Mass. It was a seaside hotel. Your kit has many features that look like it. Jim
The U.P.Hotel is now installed on my layout. The hotel has a complete lobby with working ceiling fan. There is a beer/cigarette store with complete interior, along with a cafe. I have just installed the fire escape stairs in the back of hotel!
Here’s a few photo shots with all the room lights out! The hotel really lights up without all the room lights turned off! Notice the dome has a light shining on it. This was done by pure luck, because I have a light towards a flagpole in front of City Hall across the street. The angle of the light not only hits the flagpole, but goes across the street and hits the dome on the hotel. Pretty cool isn’t it!
I see this more and more in towns where there's spotlighting on older buildings, so this is really cool!
Well, I started on this loco back in 2009, from a stripped CSX, and after a few more added details I submitted it for judging today at the NMRA meet and scored enough points to use as the last locomotive required for Master Builder Motive Power:
JUST CATCHING UP ON THIS THREAD. Great job Eric!!! One can tell craftmanship in both the product, and from the assembler. Nice.... We need a ZOOM meeting on making signs featuring Rob Ray....... Waiting patiently to see the switch get flipped on these lights. Should look very cool.
I have unfortunately been under the weather for a couple of weeks now, so until yesterday, the yard lighting still looked exactly like that picture. Finally felt up to getting back to it yesterday, so I hope to have some pictures of all the lights standing later this week, maybe over the weekend. Then I need to complete wiring underneath, and see about getting them powered. Getting there, just slowly.
I just finished a pair of Walt's 89' flatcars. I painted them TTX Yellow, made some Peel & Stick wood decks, then made up a set of some decals: Then I applied decals, sealed with Dull Cote, added brakewheels, applied decks, and made a wash to weather the decks. I also painted the roller bearings blue and rusted the wheels, and they look done to me:
Rob, Those look great! Really like the wood decks with the perpendicular planks down the center. Nice decals. What thickness of wood are you using? Scott
Decking looks great but for sone reason that subtle blue on roller bearings just makes it look right.
Light poles are planted, bases and access panels have been recreated where the poles are sunk into the layout for height matching. The depot and ramp/platform are just sitting there for now, as I try to visualize what the final quantity and placement of buildings/features will be. Now comes the real fun part of wiring everything up to switches and to the 12v backbone. I wonder what excuses I can find to procrastinate on that task? Anyway, here are progress pics.
