Like most my age (76), I had "O" scale Lionel trains as a kid. I remember giving a cousin two full sets of trains and lots of extra cars, buildings, scenery, etc. when I was a Junior in High School. For the last 25 years or so, I collected model cars starting out with 1:24 or 1:25. In 1997 I was assigned a project in Bergen op Zoom the Netherlands and started going to the plentiful hobby shops in Holland where I discovered 1:43 scale models. I came home for a week each month and brought lots of 1:43 scale models. eBay had just started and I sold tons of the models and liquidated my 1:24/1:25 models and started collecting the 1:43 scale of mostly '50s & '60s cars & trucks. A few weeks ago, I discovered Denver Diecast 1:48 scale cars & trucks and purchased some. Of course, loving this scale I ran across all kinds of accessories & buildings. I downloaded a couple of TV and Vending Machines paper craft and made a few TVs and vending machines for a mini diorama of my Dad's Radio-TV Shop in Plains Texas. Now, I want to start selling my 1:43 scale models (with some exceptions) and concentrate on 1:48 dioramas of meaningful places in my life. I'm thankful to have found Trainboard and learn about paper craft especially backgrounds right now. Eventually, I want to buy an "O" scale replica of the Texas Railroad that runs between Rusk & Palestine. Thanks for this forum and website.
