I'm a RC airplane guy too so yeah, what Freddy said. In theory the resistor should work IF the motor draws very little current else you'll get a very hot resistor. But, given that it's a shaver motor I suspect it will draw too much for a simple 1/4 watt resistor setup.I Also, since you can't drain Lipos below a certain voltage or else you will damage them (<3.7v) or kill them (<3.3v) how will you know when to stop? Unless you have a LVC (low voltage cutoff) circuit.
MK.....wont the original circuitry on the board monitor the battery ? Just an FYI...it wont be the shaver motor I will be using.

Carl....Sounds like something I would do !!! LOL True story... Back in the 70's I was into CB radios. I had a 1000 watt kicker in my truck for my mobile CB. Back then radio frequencies for RC airplanes weren't all that great. We would drive by where they where flying airplanes. We would fire up the 'kicker' and key the mic. Was fun watching them guys lose control of their RC planes...
Yes if you are going to use the original circuit board. What about this. Can you fit a AAA in there? If so, just get a AAA NiMH cell and hook it up directly to the appropriate motor and call it a day. No circuitry to deal with. No finicky lipo to deal with and you can run the motor down until it won't spin and it won't damage the battery. Overcharging a NiMH won't burn down your house either.
Wondering why you don't use track power. A B unit with the gearing removed out of the trucks and the drive motor driving the rotary wheel controlling it with DCC. That way you could dial in the speed of the rotary wheel and control the lighting while using a regular loco to move the rotary as done by prototype. Seems like an easier way to go.
Welllllllllll... The B unit is a dummy...no power pickups for DCC That and it would cost me for another decoder. I am playing with the guts out of this beard trimmer. I am trying to keep it as simple and fun as I can So far I have only $7.00 invested in it
I like the AAA rechargeable battery best. Use resistors if necessary. Maybe a relay connected to the headlight of the engine to turn on.
Question for the group: Does anyone recognize this picture ? It was posted here on TB. It shows some nice 3 rail fence ! I remember talking to whoever posted it about where he bought it. I saved the pic but didn't bookmark the thread... Any help in finding the owner would be appreciated...TIA .

Thanks Wolf ! 1) is it 'laser cut' wood ? 2) is it really delicate ? The reason I ask is that I use a 'mini vacuum' to clean my layout. If I barely bump the Monroe fence...will it 'snap off' ??? My 3D printed fence is so delicate...all you have to do is look at it wrong and the rails will snap off !! . .
Mtn, I have that on my existing layout and it's pretty sturdy. It's laser cut wood with laser cut cardboard post and brace pieces that you glue on to the fence to widen the posts for a more realistic finish.
