I have this really, really old Con-Cor set I got years ago. While finding jewel cases & boxes for my items tonight I ran across the original box for it and it has these silver pieces in there. Is that the mirror's for each cab, or semi or whatever they call them. So they expect me to glue these on and they won't get broken And if so, exactly where? Alright I can't find the member that always post images of semi's and such? He has an active thread on them too. Image below is NOT mine they replaced the plastic logs like have with sticks. But it is my set! Time to get the NEW magnifying glasses back out I always wondered what those pieces were?
They attach to the leading edge of the door. So that they swing forward along with the door as it opens. If it's attached to the roof pillar infront of the door the door will hit it when opened.
I'll be darn, there is, one on the roof part and one hole on the top of the door. Thanks everyone. It will be a miracle if they stay on when I glue them, or don't break them when cutting of the tiny sprue! Me thinks something might go flying in the air, never to be seen again I hope not! Might put them on some painters tape to try and prevent that, when I cut them from the sprue? Obviously you have had one of these before or that's just the way they all attach? I've had these thing's for 10-15 years, amazing I didn't lose the tiny parts
Painter's tape is great for model railroading, and not just for painting, but for holding things as you suggest. I go through yards of the stuff.
Yep, I also use ton's of it. Even double it up and put pieces under my Atlas track when mocking up so the track won't move on me. And a million other thing's. It's kind of like Duct tape, but it isn't Cause you know, it's Duct tape! Whenever something comes apart, breaks, needs to be secured, etc... the saying around here is, put Duct Tape on it!
If you do break or lose the plastic Con-Cor mirrors, there are etched mirrors available that look even better! Perhaps I am not sufficiently knowledgeable of the logging business, specially as to more modern operations. Those ConCor Herpa logging rigs don't look realistic to me. They have sleeper cabs and an extended chassis with fenders over the rear wheels. This seems illogical for logging rigs altogether. I would remove the sleeper, shorten the chassis and remove those fenders. I second the use of stainless steel mirrors instead of the stock plastic ones provided. Can anyone confirm my concerns or at least show evidence that my observations are wrong.
I live in logging country. I see logging trucks going through town daily. I have never seen one with fenders or a sleeper. That being said....
