The Rainier Great Western is looking for local model Railroaders to join our group. You can check our progress here in the HO scale thread; look for the Rainier Great Western Const Update. We are a modern theme based on old abandoned Milwaukee tracks here in King and Pierce County. We have 1600 lineal feet of mainline, 1800 Lin ft of sidings and passing tracks. Check out our website on www.rgwrail.com for more info. We meet Tuesday nights from 6-930, but we are a come when you can, stay all you like, group. Refreshments are always served. If you are interested, DM me on this forum. Thanks for your consideration and thanks for checking in. Michael Highsmith The Rainier Great Western HO Scale Railroad
I agree with Dale. Oh well, I used to be "local", Upper Snoqualmie Valley, but these days seventeen hours driving round trip is a bit much for an old fart to do for a operating session. Ha ha.
I hope you got some responses for op sessions Mike. I know it can be a challenge to get people to show up to an op session on a regular basis.
Michael, Have you looked into OPSIG? I looked at the member roster for Washington State, they have a good number of members. I do know if word gets out around here there is an operating layout, specifically one the size and scope of the RGW you should be able to crew up on a regular basis. We have one pike here that runs monthly sessions and it is filled the day the owner posts the crew call. Look up Steve Davis’s KCS 3rd Subdivision. He has a YouTube channel as well. You can join up for an online membership for $10.00 per year. NMRA membership is encouraged, but not required. Like said the other day, I sure wish you were in the area. Tulsa is very strongly oriented towards operations. You would stay busy! I hope you get some takers! Dale
Vince I'm about 6 miles east of Auburn. Closer to Black Diamond. That's a haul from snoho co. The Rainier Great Western HO Scale Railroad
We are just a group of guys that enjoy the hobby. There's never any pressure to attend. We'd welcome you as often as you could make it. M The Rainier Great Western HO Scale Railroad
Thats the only way I can approach it too Mike. Just Glad to see anyone, and all, anytime. There more show up the more like RRing it is, with some jobs/trains waiting on others and such. It usually turns into a huge BS session, which is good too!. It always amazes me that in a 30'X50' building, we always seem to be within a 6-8 feet of each other LOL, which is also OK.
Rule #1 of model railroading, inevitably everyone in attendance will end up in the smallest confines of the layout. Ha, ha! The Rainier Great Western HO Scale Railroad
Actually that's Rule 2A. Rule #1 is "Its my railroad. I run what I want." Over on The Railwire we also have a corollary known as Ed's Law, which states "There's a Prototype for Everything."
