Eastbound Amtrak 42, the Pennsylvanian, passes a few minutes before the westbound 43 with today's star, 50th Anniversary Amtrak 108 arrives. Trailing the baggage car were 2 Amfleet I's and 4 Amfleet II's. DSC00302 (2).JPG DSC00315.JPG DSC00324.JPG DSC00329.JPG

Neat catch! I'd have thought that ATK would have chosen their No. 50 for their 50 Year unit. I hadn't thought of this until I saw No. 50 on a late running Silver Star a week ago.

Very cool catch Sepp! Nice pics (y)(y)(y)

You have a good point. The #50 would have been a great choice for the anniversary unit.

Do you think the choice of locomotive number to repaint was influenced mostly by which units were in the shops at the time? That's my theory. Don't thosr old Budd-built cars still look good after 40-45 years of service?

Probably was in the shop at the time, and got the paint redone.
