I haven't picked up much N Scale goodies lately, but this was in an e maial from a shop I buy from quite regularly now. It's an Athearn Tidewater Souther 50' "Cornucopia" box car. I have one other (a custom painted Micro-Trains car). I'm hoping it's not the same number!
I was able to attend the Greensburg Train show in my area this past Saturday. I picked up several boxcars, covered hoppers and this little beauty from Atlas equipped with the NCE decoder. After some tweaking using my Digitrax PR4 and JMRI software, I'm able to get some very smooth slow speed performance out of this locomotive. I've also replaced the couplers with Micro-Trains 1015, now she's ready for some action on the Long Valley Branch during my early PC era ops sessions.
Rich, how was the attendance of the show given all the Delta talk on the news? Were people wearing masks?
Acquired 3 ConCor auto racks, and one COFC flat, from another member, Just added an MT coupler to one of the racks. Found that an MT 1015 with included shim, matches the MT height gauge perfectly!! Next up, are a bunch of assembled MT 1015's. Eyesight won't let me see the @#$%^&(need cursing emoji) springs, to assemble them! Been that way, since cataract surgery 3 1/2 years ago! Can't see close any longer, but an arm length and beyond, is great! Reading glasses help, but not witht hose @#$%^ MT coupler springs!
Hi Mike, The attendance at the show was very good and might have been close to pre-covid attendance levels. A few people were wearing masks but the majority of folks were not wearing masks. I've been fully vaccinated for several months now, but I'd suggest folks who are not vaccinated attending these shows should wear a mask for their own safety.
Hi Keith, As someone who's 60 years old with the eyesight of a 80 year old let me make two suggestions. OptiVISORS Micro-Trains Coupler Assembly Fixture I just finished assembling four 1015 using the Assembly Fixture and like you mentioned the springs can be difficult, but the jig helps hold things in place.
I use a toothpick to handle/load the spring then with one end in the pocket of the coupler use my fingernail to compress the spring and as I withdraw the toothpick I use that same fingernail to push the raised spring end into the pocket once the toothpick is fully withdrawn. Still takes a bit of dexterity but well lighted magnification helps immensely.
A new to me limited run (2008 Nürnberg toy fair Dealer only) DB passenger car from Trix with different DB liveries on one car.
Arrived while I was away and finally completing my seasonal purchases. The JTC well car was just released. The Con-Cor container was the 2020 Xmas car which I actually received last December. However, since I am not a modern modeler I lacked a car for the container to ride in. So here they both are as my latest purchase. Stay safe,
Hit the LHS today. Got a little carried away. 1 gondola, 2 boxcars, 1 coal hopper, 5 cylindrical grain hoppers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just ordered... 3x Atlas N ACF 5701 Grain Hopper "Dependable Feeds" 3x Atlas Master N Trinity 5660 PD Covered Hopper "GATX General American Transportation" 1x Kato N Gunderson MAXI-IV Double Stack Intermodal Well Car 3 unit set "Pacer Stacktrain" w/ 6x Pacer Intermodal Containers 1x JTC N 20' Standard Tank Container "Triton Leasing" w/ Full Wrap Around Walkway, 2-Pack 1x JTC N Flatrack Containers Assortment #1, 6-Pack I decided a 3 unit well car would work better on my small layout than the newer 5 unit ones.
So I had ordered a few parts from Kato a long while ago. Well I noticed a charge on my credit card the other day from Kato… so I called asking why, I legitimately forgot I ordered them. And today they showed up. So those parts are to fix my trainwreck of a Thalys train. The circuit board will allow me to use the newer plug in decoder, and the couplers are to replace the missing ones. and lastly I got an EBay order for 4 more auto racks for Amtrak.
