Are you feeling fenced in yet??? All kidding aside, it's looking good sir. Commercial fencing or home made?
Thank you.... I've put so much fencing on this layout...YES...I feel fenced in...LOL Its 'homemade chainlink fencing'. Made from 'Sheer Ribbon' cut down to proper size for 4' fence. Here is an example of the ribbon I use...... https://www.amazon.com/Organza-Wrap...24767906&sprefix=sheer+ribbon,aps,259&sr=8-19 The hardest part....drilling hundreds of tiny holes to glue in short 'line poles'.... Almost done with the fences. Will post a pic when I'm done. .
That ribbon looks a lot like that used to help smooth joints in drywall. Only missing the sticky side. But all the fences makes me think, too much, about the neighborhood I'm now living in. There's a lot of wooden ones as well. I'll be waiting for the pics.
Thanks George for that ribbon link. Leave it to you and your imagination to come up with that idea. I have used tulle (spelling ?). I like the looks of your ribbon. Current fires still no issue? Be well, Carl
Carl..... No fires close by...yet! They have closed the national forests due to fire threats. $2,000.00 fine if they catch you out there ! The flatlanders arent going to be happy for the July 4th weekend. I'm ok with that...dont need our house burning down due to someone elses need to be careless.
Well.....................this is far as I have gotten so far. This side is 'done'. This side still needs the 'line posts' put in..... It will probably be 2-3 days before I get back out there to finish this project up. Isn't it fun when life gets in the way of all this fun...
Just havent been 'flocked' yet. (Can I say that???) OR It could be fall and all the leaves are gone... Deciduous Trees ? or Darth Sidious Trees ? http://pm1.narvii.com/7003/2d51b3fd31989ae21dbe4239f343cb45bfd9b889r1-1080-1920v2_uhq.jpg
Some of the tree stay bare until the grass is very green and they flourish in two weeks. Maybe it's that time there.
Well I thought I was going to take a couple of days off. THE Wife AKA (THE CFO) liked the look of the fencing I had done so far and she 'suggested' I go out and finish it today ! When I said I was taking a few days off...I got 'THE LOOK' ! Most of you know that look ! So out I went....LOL Think I'll call this area done....for now ! Got a package in the mail this afternoon...tents !! Looks like I will finally be able to finish the homeless encampment...complete with a 'flashing fire' burn barrel....in the parking lot of the old theater and radio station. Looks like we have a man down behind 'Joes Pool Hall'
Looks like a railfan fell off the ridge!! He is dedicated though!! He is still in that poised for the shot stance!!
Those fences look great! Did you use any special technique to cut it cleanly? I've used a similar ribbon for walkway grating but had a hard time getting a straight clean edge when I cut it because the Xacto tended to snag and pull out individual threads. Maybe I just need different ribbon.
I looked at the ad you link to. Farther down is some in green that would look the best in yards here. Only it's a little light in color. It should be more of a 'grass green'. It looks better on private land and it's vinyl covered so no rust.
I taped it tight onto a 24 inch cutting mat using blue painters tape....and used a new xacto blade. I freehand cut it on the solid 1" inch line. I didnt get any snags and had a smooth cut edge. One thing I found early was...I had to hold the ribbon behind the cut line as I cut or it had a tendency to move off the cut line. Slide your finger an inch behind the blade as you cut. I dont suggest holding it in front of the oncoming blade. ** I used a #19 blade...not the usual #11. It doesnt seem to 'twist' as you draw it across the ribbon. A #11 blade has a tendency to 'walk' off the cutting line. JMO http://www.dick-blick.com/items/574/13/57413-OBB3ww-l.jpg
Galvanize chainlink fence doesnt rust....unless you bury the bottom below grade. Even then its not really rust. The acids in dirt tend to eat the fencing material after 10-15 years. I have seen vinyl cover chainlink...it does look nice.
Big...burly...grown men talking about 'sheer ribbon' or 'chiffon ribbon'. Our wives would have way to much fun reading this conversation I think...
