Great shot, Buddy! And, as far as Harper's Ferry, it would take at least ten years for A project like that to get government approval,, these days. Rampant stupidity. Doug
CSX #60 along with CSX #124 leading a southbound along the edge on NS DeButts Yard in Chattanooga TN - Dec. 26, 2004
Wernersville, PA enjoys early Spring sunshine. NS 62V hustles New Jersey trash westward, this Wednesday past, 03/10/2021.
I think that "heritage" paint scheme looks better than the current one. It even makes #130 look half decent. It breaks up the "box with a semi-pointy end" shape.
Here's the branch crossing the Potomac River at Harper's Ferry. Mar 11, 2006 taken from the C&O Canal towpath.
You just gotta respect all that work. I mean what a great undertaking that all was. From what ever direction. I respect and admire the effort.
Bottineau Farmer's Elevator goats, Bottineau, ND: SW-1 ILSX 1366 was built as CB&Q 9153 in Feb 1941, ex-BN 97 (in Blackbird paint: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=586274) SW-1 ILSX 1367 was built as URR 471 in Jul 1950. There are a couple of gems. Those yard goats make the Energizer Bunny look like a wuss. And to think that 1366 was built before Pearl Harbor!
Wow! One over 80 years old and the other over 70 years old looking great and STILL doing their thing! I see 1366 has the original compound slope hood arrangement and 1367 the later simplified arrangement. Doug
Yes and I wonder about the structure going along between the station and tracks. That can't be just decorative, can it? Doug
That's a good question. I looked around on the Internet and it was once a platform canopy, now missing its roof. It is indeed a Reading station, completed in 1927. Passenger service on the line ended in 1963.
That's correct. The Heidelberg Heritage Society has restored the station, and opens it for special events. Unfortunately NS won't allow restoration of the platform canopy, as it is too close to a very active line.
I found these two pictures of the station, one of which has one view with the roof still there and the other which shows the supporting framework for the roof: Doug
