Built for the Santa Fe, both locomotives then went to Squaw Creek Coal, then Indiana High Rail, Wabash & Ohio and finally to the Austin Steam Train Association to pull their tourist trains until their former SP 2-8-2 could be restored (the Mikado is still in pieces, all major components rebuilt but still waiting funds to reassemble it). The 443 was sold and the 442 is now down for repairs. Traction motors are being rebuilt and there is an electrical ground fault somewhere in the wiring. Here it is in better days.
Not really an Alco any more. Repowered with EMD. Baldwin City, Kansas on the Kansas Belle Dinner Train.
