Day 20, Happy New Years Eve. Cynthia is awake and responding, they have her pain meds turned down to prepare for tomorrow when they are going to remove the ventilator. It looks like they are going to do a tracheotomy if her blood gas is bad. I had a flat tire on the way to the hospital this morning, what a way to end the year. Haha Joe
Thanks for the update. Maybe not the best way to end the year but praying that tomorrow goes as expected and 2020 is off to good start for you and Cynthia. Happy New Year to you both.
Thank you BNSF FAN, your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated, goes the same for everyone else. The prayers are working. Joe
Joe, You and Cynthia continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Praying things continue to improve and you and Cynthia have a safe and Happy New Year.
Day 21, yesterday. Cynthia was awake and responding to everyone, it was a quiet day with no doctors coming by. Joe
Day 22, The doctor said they need to do a tracheotomy so they are setting up to do it this afternoon. Finally Cynthia will be free of the ventilator. She is awake and responding to everyone. Joe
Day 23, Cynthia is doing well with the tracheotomy, she has the ventilator connected to the tracheotomy incision and the oxygen is set at 40%. She has been sleeping for about 15 minutes and then wake up for 15 minutes over and over all morning. Also looks great without the ventilator tube in her mouth, she isn't able to whisper yet but it won't be too long. Joe
Been reluctant to post being new to this board but just to let you know I'm wishing the best for you folks. Glad to read things are improving for her.
Day 24, Cynthia is doing great, her oxygen is 30% and she is able to whisper softly. It's good to hear her voice again. Joe
A good friend who is a nurse told me that room air is 26%. Maybe Cynthia will get out of ICU and go to a regular room sometime soon. Joe
