Something close to that. Around the time of the BNSF merger, Metro North sold their B23-7s to BNSF, so presumably, this photo is of the loco under BNSF ownership, just not yet relettered.

Kinda funny that SD-45 MRL 3624, built as BN 6513 again returned to her native region after being sold by BN to National Railway Equipment in 1986, then to the NYS&W in 1987 where it as renumbered NYSW 3624 before going back west to the MRL which eventually renumbered her 360. This unit saw it all.

Cool SDP45! I'd always associated these solely with the E-L, only recently learning that the SP and GN bought them too.
Wow! Now that is a trip down memory lane!! The MPI 9023! I remember these units from when I worked at the Boise shop, and may have even been involved in wiring or cabling that one! Thanks!!
I recall MPI SD-45s in the mid-1980s in Montgomery, AL in service on the SBD. In fresh deep blue paint and gold stripe and lettering, they were beautiful. I have some Kodachromes, but alas no way to scan them at this time.
Nobles & Rock (Independent Loco Services) SD9 1374, Minnesota, circa 1994 (Bob Jordan) NP Boxcar 31226, Denver, CO, early 1970s (Bob Jordan)
I replaced a cam segment on an MPI unit, when I worked as a machinist at the Burnham shops in Denver 1993 or so. We had a lot of rent a wrecks coming in DIC then, one SD45 was so grimy that when it was washed off after repairs, there was a faint PRR herald on the blower duct.

The cool thing is that SCL 501 (ex ACL 501) E-3 survives today at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC. She's been restored to her original ACL purple and silver colors, is fully operational and is kept safe from the elements in the roundhouse when not at work. The photo must have been taken at a special event. I read that she remained in service with the SCL until 1970, operating over 6 million miles and becoming the most traveled E unit ever built.
I don't think so. Judging from the fairings and the fact that they're articulated, I think that's the Nebraska Zephyr trainset from the museum in Union, Ill.
I'm not sure, but they don't look like ACL cars and my vote is with acptulsa. Apparently ACL 501 was purchased by a Denver dentist who somehow planned to incorporate it into an office. A fellow named Glenn Monhart bought it and had it moved to Janesville, WI. Sadly, Monhart died in a highway accident and as part of his estate, the locomotive was transferred to the museum in Spencer, NC.
