I’ve got an older PCC trolley on the way along with a tmtr 04 tomix chassis, and a slew of tomix mini fineline track and mini turnouts and some through girder bridges to make a street and park embedded trolley line... along with catenary poles and some ez line to stand in as overhead cable. I also got some 12’ tomix containers to put on a flat car as LCL and a soda shop interior to put inside the DPM soda shop.
I've been zzzzzzeeeing things at a smaller scale the N lately... bazzzzinga! Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
Just picked up a Model Power 2-8-2 Mikado with DCC and sound. The sound is a lot better than on an older version I have. It came as a C&O unit and I am redoing it as a Great Northern unit and I installed a MTL couple on the tender.
2 Kato MP36PH locomotives painted by Kubo in New Mexico Rail Runner scheme. Now I need to find me some Bombardier coaches in the same scheme that wont kill my wallet. Anyone have any of the Athearn ones in N to sell?
That is an MRC/Model Power version... right?? MRC made some significant improvements to the original mechanism (which had serious issues). Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
The 2 Atlas B&O GP9 TTs that I purchased from one Lowell of this fine forum finally arrived today, having had a couple of days holiday in Chicago and been held ransom by good old rip off UK customs. Fine looking models they are too and I look forward to running them at the weekend. Should anyone be considering purchasing from Lowell I highly recommend him.
Well... I just got some Cryogenic Tank Cars from BLI. Does anyone know when these began running... about 1960s or so?? Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
The ones with full double walkways and full handrails were built in 1960. BLI's represent the cars built in 1962-67. They went through several modifications over the years. They timed out in 2007(the 40 yr rule). The latter versions were simpler and more efficient and most didn't have rings.
I purchased a pack of rotary cutoff discs, couple of rotary wire brush wheels and a couple of mandrels for the cutoff discs from Lowe's this morning. Now I can start working on wiring the track. Hope to run a train soon and take a video of the event. Just need to install some more track on modules 02 and 03 first. This will open up about 12 to 15 feet of mainline track for the video. Joe
A couple of Rock Island RS-3’s, 6 coal hoppers and a couple of Rock Island cabooses successfully interchanged today! Another nice TB transaction!
Just arrived today. All three versions (A, B & C) are early 1960s... perfect for my era. These are now one of my favorite tank cars. BLI did a great job on these models. Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
My Latest purchases are > Photo 1- is from MAY 4, 2019, bad day for me I needed something ! And 2nd is from a week ago. Tom
Something dangerous jsut happened. I’m sick of waiting nearly a month for Japanese only items like tomix track to arrive... the waiting another month because I didn’t have enough of one piece or another. So I signed up for Amazon.jp. They promise 1 week shipping to the US as opposed to 30 days for ebay. This could prove very useful... and very dangerous. For now more tomix track and a Tomytec station... and looking at Waku Waku Trip with Mickey Shinkansen. Only looking.
HI Tom, I'm curious, why the Mehano / MRC / Model Power ALCO C420, it has seen better days? Please note, this is an honest question, I'm not trying to start a flame war or anything negative, just wondering if there is an interesting back story behind the purchase of this locomotive.
Hey Rich, I see you are modelling the P&WV. Have you been able to replicate the H20-44 FM Fairbanks-Morse diesels that the P&WV used? To my knowledge, none have been produced in N gauge (at least not in plastic). They replaced, among other steamers, the P&WV's 2-6-6-4's which also have not been done in N gauge. Both are iconic to the P&WV. Now keeping with the subject of this thread I recently took possession of 24 BLI H2a hoppers in N&W as well as 6 in PRR.
Unfortunately the P&WV is only one of several railroads I model, although I like the P&WV logo the best CMR does sell a shell for the H20-44 https://www.cmrproducts.com/store/N-Scale-Fairbanks-Morse-H-20-44-Locomotive-Shell-p101664207 But I've not attempted this kitbash yet. I do have a P&WV H16-44 that I custom painted and decaled using P&WV decals from "Great Decals" Currently, I'm on a PC kick and here's my most recent locomotive purchase. A undecorated Kato GP38-2 I purchased second hand on ebay. I painted the model using Scalecoat II paint and Microscale Penn Central decals.
