Anybody know where I may buy what I believe is called a Rodgers steam engine. That was on Petticoat Junction, Little House on the Prairie and several westerns. It's rear drive wheels are farther back and burns wood. I know what Drucker's (it's much like many Swedish) stores, the rail station, Green Acres and the Hotel and water tower looks like. It only ran between two cities, the bridge to the main track was destroyed by a flood so should be easy to build.
Perhaps I could get the lovely lady build a bowling alley for me. ;)

What scale are you wanting? The locomotive in question was called a Ten Wheeler. Here is an N Scale model of a Mogul built by Roundhouse maybe? You may be able to add a 4 wheel pilot truck to make a Ten Wheeler.

There were two...one is Sierra Railroad #3 and the other was a movie prop mock up of Rio Grande Southern #20, that was made for the 1951 movie Ticket to Tomahawk...there was brass models of each loco...and the Bachmann Large Scale 4-6-0 is a close model of RGS20, however the cab has too many windows

Sierra #3 is standard gauge and RGS #20 is narrow gauge, last I heard, both are under restoration.

Oh, and Rodgers was a manufacturer, they built many locos before merging into ALCO

I don't think either of those engines were on those shows and definitely not the combination car. The engine was a wood burner and was never shown close up. That one was artificial. The combination car on the show had only 5 passenger windows, not the 7 shown. The last I read they still exist in California. My scale was N when I did the research in the late '90s. Now I'm working with HO but don't have much money.
I grew up 25 miles from Green Bay, WI that has a large rail museum and later just outside East Troy that also has a museum, repair shop and a 8 mile ride available. Also an old ice cream parlor beside the repair shop/depot.

And you were correct in the thread title. The locomotive builder was Rogers, not Rodgers.

Yes Micke C that is what I was and still am interested in. But, it's the wrong colors. I'll probably still need to go hunting for one. For now I use the the one I have with all three drivers the same spacing, it burns coal, has the straight smoke stack and small head light.
I lost all my earlier searches do to the illegal VP Dick Cheney and then Windows 10 being forced onto the one I have, two years ago.

Hope you find one and can model Petticoat Junction. That water tower in the beginning would be a great one to model.

I was just on ebay looking at Tyco/Mantua steam engines. One I don't need, but sorely tempts me, is the kit form of it. You can find a lot of them on ebay right now. They seem to be cheaper than the 4-4-0's, for some reason. even some brass one's for not too much. Just put this in the ebay search window: 4-6-0.

There is even a crazy long wheel base kit of a 2-8-0. It's like the rogers only super long.

Go ahead, turn to the dark side... well, the 1890's era of steam. ;)

The kit that Mantua offered was actually a 4-8-0. The actual Sierra RR. ten wheeler, used in numerous movies and TV shows, has been used almost exclusively in that type of work for many years and as such has sported numerous "old time" paint schemes- some of them nothing short of raucous. The tender was often loaded with wood to conceal the oil tank and a balloon stack was applied to the engine. Pick up the Mantua/Tyco engine and do some painting, apply some dry transfers and you'll have what you want. Many of them came with the balloon stack and wood load, but these parts could be added if need be. If I recall correctly, the passenger cars used were sierra's "shorty" cars, originally used on the angels branch and retained by the Sierra for movies and TV. I'm not sure how close the Mantua/Tyco cars are, but I would regard them as at least an acceptable stand in. Note: Just looked at the above post and it is indeed all there (just needs uncle Joe sitting on the porch) but is presently out of stock.

Moderator you can remove "ALL" my post if you wish.
I was not trying to sell anything, I was only trying to let him know there was a set available.
I guess no good dead goes unpunished ?
As for the original set that Tyco put out back in 1966, I have one and it does have the 4-6-0 for an engine, not the 4-8-0 as stated above.
It was called "The Petticoat Junctioner" and If I'm allowed, here's a picture?
    Hope this helps?

Thanks for the attempt. There are several on your last post I should have gone for back then.

Doesn't matter. There's your painting and lettering guide. (Tender might be a bit difficult but well worth a try.) The mantua/Tyco items should be available online or at swaps. The Shady Rest is a Woodland Scenics structure and any of several water tank kits would be a good start.
