In recent posts there's people looking for this and that.. We are all pretty much familiair with what the, let's say, top10 manufacturers in Z have to offer. But there are quite a few one-man businessess, or pop-and-mom outfits, that offer nice little detailing stuff (usually amongst other scales) in Z. I would be nice to exchange some info on that. If forum rules allow? For starters, EtchIT makes some nice etched kits in Z. In N and TT he does also very nice cars etc. in 3D print. I just got his newsletter and I found he is now venturing into Z with 3D printing. This is different from what I have seen so far. Take a look: The current Z scale products can be found here: http://www.easy01.de/etchIT-store/pi-1222376295.htm?categoryId=33 The website is in German, but click on one of the underlined headings and you can check out the pix. EtchIT does ship abroad. German speaking folk at this forum (or even a Dutchman like myself) could help out if language is a barrier for ordering. Looking forward to updates on other unknown Z scale manufacturers. Cheers, Matt
Hugwa is Polish small manufacturer having also Z-scale items in his range. All items are made of gypsum and can be used mainly to make roads. The www is in Polish and German. Of course I can help with Polish: https://sklep.hugwa.pl/pl/c/1220-Z/21 Examples:
Yikes!!! That is a lot of work. I love it. I may have to think about renovating some previous projects. What I'd really like to see in 3-D printed is groups of people in small clusters and crowds for the interior of buildings. It would be less expensive and less time consuming to paint than individual people. Mostly I avoid using people and animals in my projects because they almost always look too fake. Much too static for my tastes. Jim
Pawel, nice! I have some of Hugwa's stuff too, still waiting for a project... Btw he has nice bricks in N scale, that work fine for Z, e.g. for a pile of brick lying about somewhere. I am curious about the concrete fence, where did you get that? I don't think that is by Hugwa, now is it? Matt
Here's another one I found recently. Anyone who has built this motel? http://www.nscalelaser.com/product-category/z-scale/ Matt
Concrete fence is produced by another small scale manufacturer - Kotebi. He is specializing in bigger scales. Z-scale is limited "side effect" - I was asking him to make it. Here is full range of Z products: https://www.swiatmodeli.eu/pl/c/Modele-kolejowe-Z-1220/397 Again I can help with Polish...
I like that pile of bricks laying around idea. Cinder blocks in rubble form would be nice. Gondola loads, too. Lots of possibilities. Jim
What a great thread idea, Mark. Thanks for starting this. Those little motorcycles are great! Might have to pick up a set.
Always amazes me how many manufacturers there are/have been in Z ... DIY in Z scale has a great links section... http://zscale.org/links/manufacturers.html These are not likely up to date as some are dead links, yet it's still interesting.
That is a really nice overview indeed, Frank. Thanks. Too bad it seems David Karp is not actively involved anymore (?) Matt
