Pat- Did you strip these shells before painting?

No. I had good results with other cars in the past, so I just sprayed over.

I have been doing some industrial scale airbrushing. I have half a million half-finished projects, so I just decided to paint them all right now. I just finished a Roco Minitanks M1A1 Abrams. The wheels are for an M561 Gama Goat, also a Minitanks model. The red and silver wheels are in production right now. The silver will mostly be painted over with black for the tire, leaving a thin band for trim. Those are for a Jordan Highway Miniatures Fox Ahrens firetruck. The rest of the truck is still in the paint booth (the garage). Still to go is an Eastern Car Works Santa Fe sleeper with a scratchbuilt interior and an SR-71 Blackbird airplane that came in a model train donation to our club. image.jpg

The red wheels in my previous post are now attached to a vehicle. I did all the detail painting on the Fox Ahrens fire truck today and got it all built. IMG_5959.JPG

I just got another vehicle done. I did some detail work and final assembly on a Roco Minitanks M561 Gama Goat this morning. The paint scheme is semi-fictional. It is based off of one in Ohio, not the Vietnam paint scheme. image.jpg

Weathering for a friend of mine. Athearn GP-38. Using Pan Pastels, Acrylic paints and black wash. I still have the other side to do.

Dale I just caught it nice weathering job.

But one issue why is the dynamic brake vent over the forward exhaust stack and not in front of the forward radiator fan.

    Inquiring minds want to know.

Hi Vince, don’t ask me, ask Irv..... I just make ‘em dirty! I thought it looked a bit odd in the placement as well, I just couldn’t put my finger on it. Do you have any photos of the GP-38 from the top?

This one's the beginning of a project almost too simple to post, but here it is. Walthers' Lancaster farmhouse will be the starting point for a diorama, with the contrasting windows and doors and the addition of an AM Models garage ("We haven't had a car that would fit in it since we got rid of the Model A, but it's a good place for the workbench and the arc welder.") intended to make it look more mid Michigan than Pennsylvania.

My bad on the DB vent I thought the Frisco 38-2's had that vent.

But yes dale definitely needs the other stack sorry for calling it out but working on the real deal back in the 90's it's hard to overlook.

As for Irv a lot of that comes from overseas.

Being that unit is a GP38AC it won't have the DB vent forgot the Frisco had all 3 variants.

    Ton of pics on

I'm cheating a bit. It started as an HO Tyco GI Joe loco. Now it's going to be either an 55n, or 35n loco for 3' or 2' gauge. Can't decide what gauge I want. More likely 55n scale on HO rails. And no I am not leaving HO scale, I am just fiddling with a side project.

I’m thinking about a truck side frame swap on my Athearn Frisco GP 35 to these instead of the normal Athearn suppled sideframes. These are off a Proto 2000 GP 18. What do you guys think?

The loco is also getting roof air tanks , extended fuel capacity and a few other odds and ends.
