    Hi Tom,

I haven’t forgotten about our deal, just been traveling quite a bit lately and the “tagger” has been busy with grands.
To top it off, it looks like mowing season is starting!

    All the best,
    Dale

    Thank you Michael,

The Z train was originally being run at the show with the BNSF unit on the tail end. For some reason about mid-day the second day it decided it would start derailing on one part of the layout. I worked with it a bit but since we were at a show I just moved it and turned it around. It ran fine the rest of the day.

Those 2 trains got quite a workout over the 2 days of the show. They ought to be well broken-in now! I bet they had about 10 hours of run time over the 2 days.

    Thanks,
    Dale

Though not at the Port proper, I caught the SKOL turn after leaving the Port and switching a hopper into Green Hill Materials about 2 and a half miles west. It was headed back to Owasso with a short train, 6 bulkhead flats, 2 tanks. For some reason they dropped 4127 in the lead to Green Hill and took off back to Owasso with 4141 running long hood forward. But I got some nice shots of my favorite SD 40-2 out of it!

Just so you guys don’t think I’ve dropped off the face of the earth, or been bone idle!
Stillwater Central Railroad GP-35. This started life as a Athearn BB SP unit I purchased in about 1990 or so. It has a repurposed can motor and is using a Bachman decoder I salvaged as well from another unit. The SLWC decals were left over from when the SKOL units were painted and decayed by Kevin. All I lack right now is some WAMX decals for the cab.
You guys may hang me for this, the paint was Walmart brand spray paint I purchased...... this was a strictly budget build!!!! It was an easy mask job so I went with the cheap flow!

    Thanks for looking!

I am trying to get caught up Dale! You been a busy guy! I like about all the graffiti on your MRR. Saw one here the other day that was a high cube and was solid graffiti on one side top to bottom front to rear, A big pile of ties right in front off it of course.
We are still on for that car swap I promise I will get them together one of these days. I really enjoy those SKOL SD's!

    Hi Tom,

Yup, we are still on. I’m waiting on the tagger to get inspired for something meaningful.

I wrapped up some work projects in the last couple of weeks and have finally felt like doing something up in the train room. This week I’ve weathered out 2 old Athearn Goins I purchased cheap at a show a while back. One was a red SF and the other was a white SOO Line. Both are pretty rusty Brown now. I utilized the RGW method of painting the insides, a coat of light gray, a coat of black and topped it off with a coat of burnt under. If you abrade it lightly after, you get color bleed thru and they look pretty used.

I also got started on Bird Creek scenery. I put in some rock molds this afternoon and am waiting on them to dry.

    Pictures soon!

    Take care all!

Some work-in-progress photos of the unloading shed at Gavilon East and the limestone rock formations going in on the southeast bank of the BNSF Bird Creek crossing. Not very pretty now, but they do look like the limestone formations we see around here.

    Thanks for looking!

Looks great Dale!!! Your rock casting looks like the ones on Bird Creek near 56th. St. N. and US169. I miss the old bridges with the truss supports, new bridges are plain and boring.

    Hi Michael,

I threw it together, it’s scratch built. I need to build the unloading floor and grates in the Track next. Then I’ll ballast the spurs.

    Thanks!

    Hi Joe,

If you look at the Bird Creek crossing on Hwy 167, look east where the BNSF crosses the creek, the south bank shows quite a bit of rock. I’m trying to get the feel of that. Quite a few folks go down in there and fish. The creek is kind of shallow there and there is a lot of limestone bottom showing when the water is down.

    Thanks,
    Dale

You’re gonna love this, Valspar Gray Primer from Lowe’s. 3.98 a can..... nothin’ but the best! oh, it’s the big can.
The boss can use it to tag freight cars when I’m not watching her!

Speaking of tagging, my 3 year old grandson saw the CSX car she recently tagged for me (picture posted a while back), he calls it the “booty car”. The name has stuck. He had to see me pull it around the layout.
