#5 Detour over the UP Clinton Sub this evening due to the derailment west of Ottumwa, IA. UP 7047 leading (ATC—In-Cab Signals). May 28, 2018 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here's one from a nice sunny September 2013 day in Cartersville GA. If I remember correctly, the humidity was kind of low that day. Unusual for any time in GA.
Empty coal train heading back to Wyoming after unloading at Smither's Lake power plant, southwest of Houston.
Is this a slug/master lashup? The lack of grilles on the leader gives that vibe. I'll bet it's quiet!
That is indeed a slug and mother lash up. Here's a shot where you can see the side of the loco a little better and yes, they are surprisingly quiet.
I agree. I love those old-style brick industrial buildings. Built at a time when even factories looked classy.
Although it didn’t lead, it still was a great snag of UP 1943 eastbound on a deadhead move to Chicago from Omaha. The train will be handed to the NS. Cedar Rapids, IA-May 30, 2018 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That second passenger car in the consist looked like it has the old "fluting" on the sides, like the old stainless steel cars, just painted? Great catch, by the way!!
Yet another great catch Buddy! Seems like an odd train to be handing off to NS. Wonder what that is about and final destination?
Here is another UP passenger special. This one has the 4141 in the lead. This was in Flatonia, Texas in November of 2006.
You may be aware of it Buddy, but the U. of Iowa has an extensive digitized photo library of period rail photos of depots, towers and other scenes throughout the state. Their URL defies being linked to. Worth a look for sure.
They’re heading to New Jersey. Supposed to head Back through Monday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
