Pictures of my son and I project 4×7 History of BNSF Layout. We chose this type of them in planning because I currently work for BNSF Railroad. My father bought my first railroad back in 1979 Tyco age 9. Carried on as a Model Railroader for about 12 years built my own layout 4x8 using the Tyco Layout Expansion System.Rocky Mountain/Rock Island/ Burlington Northern/Santa Fe/Virginian lines back then. After that college happened, boxed up the trains stored in an attic for about 35+years. Now today got back into the hobby. I return the favor and encourage my youngest to put down Mario Ninetindo for just a few minutes a week as we build our layout together featuring History of BNSF locomotives with 35-40 yr rolling stock from my Tyco collection that was stored away. It's a blend of both DCC and DC Enjoy the pics and carry on the tradition of Model Railroading with your youngins. It doesn't have to be an old guys hobby as my daughter teases me. Get the kids involved early! If the response is favorable I will share more Father Son History of BNSF Layout pics. Thanks Everyone. RT Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Wow, more pictures in the future please. Nice looking layout and I agree about trying to get them away from the electronic's item's for a bit, although our hobby is about electronic's now a day's, but a completely different take on it it. Run multiple trains with DCC, the new Just Plug WS lighting, and a ton of other stuff in the hobby now. He look's extremely happy, as he should be. If you have a chance can you take a wide overall shot of the layout please. I really like the big picture's and get idea's from everyone's photo's! I also have the Bachmann DCC controller and love it for my small N Scale layout! Take care and enjoy the hobby with your family!
Funny, I can’t get my 8 year old grandson to put the Minecraft game down. But my 9 year old granddaughter can run a switch engine like a pro....... go figure. I salute you R Thomas!!!
I think you may have the happiest son in the world. The combo of having a really fun layout and a dad who likes trains too, just can't be beat. I wish my dad had spent more time with me as a kid. It is the most important thing a father can do. WE made up for it in his later years mind you. The Super dad award goes to you sir.
Thank You everyone. It's hard I must admit. I have to make time as I have a pretty intense work schedule at times. Here's video, my apologies for the quality but it's the best I can share. I've also got to give my Daughter credit, she helped me build the table and make level sturdy. Attached is an over-all view of the layout. 4×7. We planned the layout using a program called AnyRail. The Turn Table was my son's complete idea. Thankfully Bachmann trains had one I could afford and easily install. Thanks so much for the encouragement. RThomas Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Nice coverage of the history, too. BNSF, BN, ATSF, right back to GN steam. Also nice backdrops, and as someone else noted, your son looks very pleased. Hope you are both having a great time.
Update, our model Railroad project put to video and music. See YouTube Link Below Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
