Well we are back from the weekend, or are we? Well for most of us anyway, it's back to work but lets see how we all did.

Saturday: I would like to tell you I got so much done but alas, a Honey Do list plus nice weather plus a Beagle puppy equals next to nothing done for model railroading. I spent the morning however getting the cars organized that will be used at the upcoming Ohio N Scale meet. These are the cars that we'll use in our switching operations during the weekend. Now I can get to the show and easily and quickly set up our trains as well as industries to spot. It also helped me weed out the older cars that did not have body mount couplers or as much detail. Slowly, the cars are getting more prototypical. After that, the day was spent doing domestic chores of shopping, laundry, yard work and Angela and Lucy time.

Sunday: I cleaned up the Focus and went to Angela's home town to have lunch with her Dad and Grandma. It was an enjoyable afternoon driving and visiting before heading home and doing more yard work.

So how about you? Did you get anything done? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday, May the forth be with you! Until then, have a safe week, enjoy the outside and above all...

    High Greens!

Well -- Saturday was interesting. My clinic went OK -- I think. I had 6 people sit in. 2 of whom were close friends of mine. Touring the museum was pretty cool. It had been many years since my last visit.

Sunday: Worked on my new yard fence and my E-7B is coming along. Just about ready for the details.
    The starting point.

Sorted out a few more N items I might sell. Repaired damage to a T-Trak module, deliberately done, by my ex.

Saturday I went to the train show at the old Northern Pacific depot in Livingston, MT. I did manage to see what I brought trying to make room in my hidden staging area. I had a number of locomotives and rolling stock that I didn't use much. I didn't spend much thankfully as I don't want to fill up the space created by what I was able to sell. One purchase, a new in the box Atlas caboose for $15. 20180428_150325.jpg
After the race at Talledega Saturday I did manage to got more of the Woodland Scenics LED street lights hooked up. It's a real pain in the butt working the the extremely fine wires. Unfortunately, the LEDs for lighting building interiors were far too short to reach the hubs. I'll have to figure out what to do on that. Here's the main street with all of the street lights installed.

This is the Southern Pacific speeder shed in Casa Grande, AZ. It is 18×22, the sides, back and roof is metal, and the front is metal and wood. The shed was used for a speeder and repairs.

I drew up a scale plan on 1/4″ square graph paper using Grandt Line #8008 windows. While they are not correct, they are not too far off. They are smaller than the 4×6 prototype windows, and they have more than the prototype 8 panes.

I had a fresh sheet of 0.040″ styrene, some leftovers of metal roofing from the D’Amato Lumber project, and a small piece of freight car siding.

The three sides are plain styrene, the front is a combination of the freight car siding and plain styrene. I am using five Grandt Line windows, and the door is made out of more freight car siding. The siding is horizontal, and the door planks are vertical.

I will be shooting it with Tru Color Southern Pacific Colonial Yellow and brown. I gave up on taking pictures with my cell phone, all pictures of the model were taken with my tablet.

Friday and Saturday was spent working on two HOn3 kits. I gotta say I do t like these kits. To even get them done I had to take a whole lot of short cuts. Thy turned out pretty good in the end.

Sunday I continued with my stack of structures. I finished those and went through all the leftover parts from all my kits over the past few years. I came up with enough parts to make four more facades for the City backdrop. I will finish those up today and hopefully will have them in place. Once in place I will post a pic. If I get these done I will start running bus wire for the turntable and roundhouse. Thursday I will be purchasing another PSX board so I can isolate the turntable and roundhouse from the rest of the layout.

Here are the pics of the HOn3 kits I built.

As predicted, I got nothing done in my train room. Weather in Myrtle Beach was great. Saturday afternoon I got a case of "wander-lust" and went to the local MRR club, the "Grand Strand Model Railroad Club". They were open and operating so I killed some time there. Here a couple of the shots I took....

Busy day today. Finished all of my background facades and put some in place. Set others in places to see how they fit. My small town is looking like a small city now.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Oh man, you ain't gonna believe, but the Saucier Central Chief Cook and Bottle Washer took a hard right turn and bought a Bowser HO New Orleans Riverfront Streetcar. I really wanted a St Charles Streetcar which I've ridden many times, but Bowser didn't have any left. 'Tanyrate, I'm gonna build a HCD city trolley running on channel track and single point switches under hot wire. I tried this back in 1960, but didn't have the solder skills, let alone the wire and detail parts available today. I've always wanted to do hot wire. I had a GN Z-1 boxcab and a PRR P5A. I almost had a NH EP-4, but someone beat me to it. Now's my chance. The only thing I have to do is outlive my enthusiasm. (my father died of boredom at 92. I'm only 82 and refuse to grow up.)

Didn't get to go to the Livingston/Helena Railfair this year. Other commitments got in the way. But, I did get time for a little time to work on this corner some. There will end up being a ranch in the corner. PIC_0969.JPG PIC_0970.JPG PIC_0971.JPG
