Anyone going from here? This will be there 50th anniversary! Anyone know what special things, if any, they will be doing for the show to celebrate their 50th? That's some record for a MRR show!
I'll be there both days. Haven't heard anything specific about 50th anniversary details. Perhaps a commemorative car from the Amherst Railway Society? The European Train Enthusiasts have a big display planned this year. Weather looks mild on Saturday. Dress in layers, wear comfy shoes, stay hydrated.
Not going this year. Went last year for the first time in awhile and picked up a few things. I imagine it will be very crowded on Saturday (the day I usually attend).
I was there yesterday for setup. I read in the program that they have a 50th Anniversary Amherst Railway Society locomotive. I'm assuming it'll be HO. Don't know pricing or what it looks like yet. I'll be at Winterfest too. Registration last night and everyone got a limited run Microtrains Pan Am freight car courtesy of Trovestar. Then you pick another MT car from another pile. But wait, one more freebie! . Next pick is a container courtesy of Scale Trains. Awesome details!
I am a technologically backward guy. I have a small nineteenth century pike; my larger one is steam and first generation diesels. I prefer rotary telephones and even have one at home (candlestick style) that I still use. The reason for stating all of this is that I did take some photographs of the thing with my telephone. Somehow, I did manage to link photographs taken with that telephone to my Google™ e-Mail account. It was not anything that resulted from my actually trying to do this, as I would not know how to do this; it just happened. I did check my e-Mail account and the photographs are there. The problem is that I can not figure out how to get the photographs from there to Trainboard. Edaville #11 is a 1925 Porter product. It appears to be a Forney four coupled. They laid down some track, set the thing on it and lit the fires. It was sitting there under steam but it did not move. I spent more at the show on my father and GF than I did on me. I did manage to acquire, among a few other things, two painted/unlettered seventy foot baggage cars with round roofs, six wheel trucks and different sized doors from Wheels of Time. I run mail trains, so the baggage cars can come from any road. Wheels of Time did issue these in SL-SF (which I have). Does anyone out there know what other roads ran this kind of baggage car?
I was there with Northern NJ N-Trak. We had a large T-Trak layout set up with a couple of other guys & clubs.
Yes! Here's some of ol' Number 11 in action. It was setup on about 100' of track in the parking lot, and chuffed backwards and forwards. The whistle was blown frequently, a great sound to hear when walking between buildings, with a faint coal-smoke scent when the wind was right. It's a wee little locomotive but as welcome as any locomotive could be. Number 11 Number 11 Number 11 blowing the whistle Cheers, Mike
I am glad that you posted the photographs. I still have not figured out how to get them out of my beat up smart telephone. Your photographs are better than mine anyhow. I never saw it move and I was back and forth to it. Too bad that I missed its moving. Indeed the smell of the smoke, steam, grease and the noise from the whistle did make it a welcome addition.

Wish I could give more - Edaville says "In 2013, Edaville took delivery of engine #11, a 1925 American-built 0-4-0 that was rebuilt by Boothbay RR in 2013." I think this is the rebuilt Anaconda Copper locomotive, built by H.K. Porter #6976 in Pittsburgh in 1925 for the Raritan Copper Company in New Jersey. It is a 2-foot gauge, runs on 30" drivers.
Well, I think any steam locomotive in operation today must have quite the history. They are, after all, the survivors of the thousands that went before them. Seeing any live steam locomotive operate makes me giddy.
