WOW. I looked long and hard at this photo, seeking any signs of paint. I see nothing other than lettering. Rust and more rust!

The Missouri Pacific depot in Dodge, Texas in 1960. Dodge was about half way between Houston and Palestine, Texas along the old International & Great Northern line that ran between those two points.

    Got Snow?
An empty EB BNSF oil train gets the Highball at East Scenic to head thru the 7.79 mile Cascade Tunnel under Stevens Pass this last Wednesday. You can barely make out the flashing white light that lets the crew know the tunnel fans are operating......

As the DPU's push into the tunnel, the snow really starts to come down!

-5F and snowing a bit as this empty oil train waits for clearance to leave. And an early CSX AC unit is in the set in what I think is their best paint scheme. PIC_0841.JPG PIC_0843.JPG

This photo was even colder. -8°F with a -31°F windchill!

WB BNSF grain loads chug upgrade past Minot Builder's Supply. First shot with my new nifty fifty lens, I had to lighten it up several stops. I need to adjust my settings over the kit lens....

Here is an old one from my collection. The Sam Houston Zephyr running on the Burlington-Rock Island line between Houston and Dallas. This train set ran opposite the Twin Star Rocket on the same line. The original streamlined equipment was the articulated 9901 formerly of the Twin City Zephyr, however it caught fire and burned on December 19, 1944. The replacement locomotive and cars shown here lasted from then until passenger service was discontinued in 1966.

You've got that right! I believe that they're the classiest E's ever built. I may add the B&O EAs to that title, too.

Vergara doesn't hold a candle to the talent of the designers of that era.

Here's a picture I came across in some papers this morning. It was taken by my friend Joe Grow who has long since boarded his last train home. Note on the back says circa "1939 or 1940, B&O Locomotive, Bradford PA". Looks to be number 7527. Possibly a 2-8-8-2
