Soo Tower signals illuminate in advance of a southbound manifest. The following head-on shot here as a time exposure did not work, sadly. Canon T5, f29, 55-250mm @100 mm, 33 sec

I wonder just how many current and recent companies have currently or in more "modern" times rostered a famous number such as "4449", or an "844"?

As an update from my post of 09/01/17, the criminal(s) who derailed the CSX freight on 08/05 have yet to be caught. So frustrating. The local media highlighted the reward again today.

I'd have thought so too, but I'm now thinking that Boxcab's fears will be realized and the creep(s) won't be found. The derailment took place in a rural location, but not in the wilderness. With so many cameras in use these days, I'm surprised that there are no images anywhere.

Roberts Bank, BC a few years ago. CN uses their SD40-2s as switchers here and 5326 happened to be unit on duty. Those Gevos in the back are the lead units of empty unit-coal ready to return to Wyoming in the case of BNSF, and the border of BC and Alberta at Sparwood for CPRail. Is it me or switchers are getting bigger as time goes by?:p

With a snowplow pilot at that... 5326 is a real veteran loco, about 40 years young, and still at it - and still showing off the CN North America logo (IIRC, that one didn't last very long).

Agreed, switchers certainly have morphed from being scrawny to full blown weightlifters in some cases. I really like the CN SD40-2Ws, that cab and plow sure give it a distinctive look. As for the logo, another day out there it was raining cats and dogs and both older company branding could be seen so I couldn't resist trying to take a couple of pics. 5358 is rusting away at the bottom of the doors; the trio of CP SD40-2 were just two tracks north. If the moderator wants to delete these because of poor quality I totally understand. CN5358Deltaport.jpg CPSD40-2Deltaport.jpg

DWP? Now that isn't fair! I go to Winnipeg every summer. That's the first repaint I've seen, but it still says has its original reporting marks, nice What a cool photo. Same for the Soo SD60 you caught, my first memory of those was in '94 in California on the Cal-P seeing them with SP SD45T-2s, then five years later they invaded the BN in Seattle, have a lot of pics of those up here in the PNW.
