Did you go inside? The public restrooms, unless altered, have high tank chain pull flush toilets. Very much from 80, 90, 100 years ago.
Nope, unfortunately they were closed. Just walked the grounds, and dreamed of NP steamers chugging by........
Neat looking building, Kurt. I did not know there was a depot there. I videotaped the 4449 coming out of Tenino back in 1996. Someday I will learn how to transfer those old VHS tapes to digital media.
There were a bunch of stone rock quarries in the area here, which you can still see, that they used to build the depot with. Be great to see those 4449 videos rolling thru the area here!!
As I recall the history, at one time there were two "depots": Tenino and West Tenino. This was a junction for a major branch line. Remnants of the branch track are or were down below the depot, where he stood to take these photos.
Yup, just a short piece of track, the actual roadbed is now a bike trail that extends from here, all the way to Roy.
Can't recall the year, but at one time that stub of track was stuffed full of old forty foot box cars. Frisco, NP and more. Wish I had taken a few pictures.
