I had a nice chuckle on the posters expense with this one! GP 30 Life Like Diesel -DIY Fix It- Vintage N Scale-Parts Department | eBay , check out the photo's. Tom
As you know I was laughing because the person said it was a N-SCALE LIFELIKE GP30 when it's clearly a ATLAS / ROCO GP30. I resisted the temptation to correct the ebay poster on this item. Tom
They did say it had been "mulled" over for parts. Unusual terminology, for saying it has been cannibalized, but....
In the early '80s, I painted three of these in RDG. I put the horse before the cart, as they were horrible runners and I kicked myself for wasting time on them.
He seems to be an honest bloke. My Rocos run very well these days after the motor brushes hardened up a bit through the years. Doug
My son and I bought a few of these that didn't run. I bought some Kato motors and swapped the motors. With just a little grinding on the frame these Kato motors fit fine. We still run our engines. $5.00 for the engines, $14.00 for the motors and we have good running engines.
I have one of these i custom painted for KCS in white. a friend hard wired a DCC decoder in it, and while it makes way more noise the the Atlas Classic version I bought later does, it runs well.
Once again, replacing the motor on this one will not help. I don't see any worm gears (or any other gears) in the truck towers.
I have some "vintage" equipment. Old Trix U28C, H-12-44 and a Bachman GP40 (All custom painted by me when I was in High School). cxan I get a couple hundred bucks? lol
Be sure to film it. You might be able to sell the video if someone makes a remake of The Fugitive. Your footage couldn't possibly be worse.
HA! I used to LOVE the old 50's b&w films that used Lionel locos and balsa wood cars to simulate crashes/explosions... now it just makes me sad. Like watching 70's movies where they wreck the best old Mopar muscle cars
