My first attempt at scratch building. This is a fire tower in N scale. Going to be used in the back corner so I needed to use a little forced perspective. This will be painted then I will glue window glazing into it then glue the roof on.
I think I've seen that. Isn't it a gathering where nine people wander around in a field, scratching and spitting?
Reminds me of the old red Lionel O gauge rotary beacon, which I've owned a couple. It has a platform, but instead of a cabin, the light.
Been a while since I updated this thread. Here is my staging yard. I did some scenicing and balasting today. Waiting for it to dry then I can do some cleanup then call it done.
My next project is to get this section somewhat completed and ready for scenicing. A couple pieces of track need replacing and some wiring then scenery. Since it is a swing down section the scenery cannot be too high. I need to be able to move things in and out of the room. Not sure what to put here.
How about a lake crossing on a land bridge. Put in a couple of short trestles for interest. Put water on both sides. That would look cool, then put in a bass boat for giggles.
I'm with Dale here. I am seeing a causeway with water, which is nice and a low profile. With a few small culverts here and there. Quite doable.
Time for an update. The track work for the lead to the staging yard from the Moab side is complete. I was thinking of adding a small mountain and cliff face in the area. I have 23” to work with. I am now playing with the idea of making part of it a tunnel for a nice scenery block and transition. The tunnel would be 15” in length with the last 8” a cliff next to the track. The tunnel would start at the tip of the ruler on the left side of the pic. The seventy block would help to separate this track from the swing bridge that butts up against this section of layout.
