About the only thing the museum did to the two F units after they bought them from a short line, was to have them painted. They were originally SP/TNO locomotives but have seen a lot of changes over the years. One of the previous owners mounted the air horns there for some unknown reason. The ATSF never used snow plows on their Fs so those also look weird. A friend of mine is on the board of directors at the Galveston museum and donated the money to have them painted. His dad worked for Santa Fe so he wanted them painted that way. I wanted them painted in SP Black Widow but it was not my money. It's just paint. Look how many different paint schemes Doyle McCormack has painted 4449 over the years.
Well, sort of. A Union Pacific Safety Awareness excursion. A load of local law enforcement officers, city and county officials and a few Operation Life Saver presenters, myself included.
Only two units. Is this a run through train, possibly empties, returning south to where the shipment originated?
Years ago we took a family trip to Hershey Park and stayed at the Red Caboose Motel near Strasburg, PA. They placed Hardcoaler and family in the Lehigh Valley hack which was perfect. We stayed for two nights and had a fine time. I found this old low rez photo and thought I'd post it.
I don't think we took any interior shots, but the link below has some. I recall that it was an efficient layout and had bunks for children. The Red Caboose also offers larger accommodations in several baggage cars. http://www.redcaboosemotel.com/cabooses

Believe I am picking up most of the symbols. PECR must be Peoria-Cedar Rapids? CRSA then Cedar Rapids-South Amana?
Iowa Interstate train PECR(Peoria-Cedar Rapids coal train) had an awesome lashup with BNSF 8221, IAIS 503 & NS 1173 taking command. BNSF 7220 was on the rear as DPU. Fairfax, IA-9/26/17. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
