You must have been atop one of the tallest structures around?

No, actually it was taken from the wall of the courtyard of the Mosteiro da Serra do Pilar, a former monastery that hangs on the hill side above the bridge.

#6 is a 2-6-0 made by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1891 for the Surry, Sussex and Southampton Railway in Virginia. It was sold to the Argent Lumber of South Carolina in the late 1920s, and bought by the Midwest Central (along with #2) in 1960. It is the flagship locomotive which just came back to operation in September 2010 after going through a moderate boiler overhaul.

#12 is a 2-6-2 built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1928. This was the last steam locomotive used by the Kahului Railroad in the 1950s. The engine is on long term lease from the Georgetown Loop Railroad.

The folks at the Arizona Railway Museum in Chandler have gotten busy with the Verde Valley. They are pulling the plywood off the windows and have painted over the graffiti. Looks better already but still a long way to go to finish. I am sure it will be a gorgeous car when they finish. Still curious about what paint scheme they will repaint it to. Probably one of the "two tone" gray schemes, but shadow line would be cool. This car carried that paint scheme longer than any other on the Santa Fe system with the exception of some of the business car fleet. The buffer plates we removed have been pulled out of the corridor inside the car and are on the pallet in the foreground.

Saw half of the GE power in town. Other half has parked in the storage tracks, about 1/2 mile east.

Other set of power returned as I was flipping a U, to park.

Just clear of mainline switch! Lights out/dimmed. Continued to push train back into "yard"

The reason why lights were out/dimmed! Freight train headed opposite direction! Was already blowing for the 3 crossings behind me!
Turned out ditch lights, then turned back on, just before I took photo!

Catching the local stuff was luck. Catching the freight train, was a pleasant surprise!
    A nice show, after lunch!

Also lucky I decided to leave my camera stuff in the truck over night!!
That way, I had it with me, when I left!
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Interresting, there looks like to be not even a BNSF identification mark on this Warbonnet....

Sooooo, me loving little logging lines here in the Northwest, I had to lock up the brakes and flip around when I passed this on the Highway 101 last week on my Honeymoon!! It was in Florence, OR out in front of a logging company! Couldn't see any info on it, but it was a cool little loco!!

Congratulations on your marriage Kurt! Sounds like you found a good gal; nice way to spend a honeymoon. My bride and I railfanned some of the B&O's lines near Washington, DC and on west to Harper's Ferry, WV. This is from September 1989:

    Congratulation Kurt.

And now for an unrelated photo: This is where I was riding a tram in Lisbon looking out the back window at a passing car.
