Being up here in Seattle at the far end of the vast UP System, (basically a long branchline out of Portland!), we rarely see clean units, let alone new power!! So it was nice to catch this NB at West Siding in Auburn, Wa the other day-along with a repaint as well!!
Nice! Looks to have been a gray day. Seems as though every time I try chasing UP, that's the type of weather I get.
Yeah, over here on the wetside of the state it's like that alot, although by Thursday, it's gonna' hit 100 degrees!!!
Taxington will be doing it's imitation of Louisiana! This is why I have always loved the Fall season. Cooler, crisp clean air. Great foliage colors for train scenes and other enjoyment!
Not to hijack the thread, but I spotted an NS Clean Power candidate last summer. She was one month out of GE's erecting hall at the time.
Maybe it's just me but it seems that the gray color is a little lighter on the new power, probably in the last year or so. Is it just me?
The "Harbor Mist" grey does look a little lighter than other locos, now that you mention it. Maybe just road grime on the older units? Be really nice is they went back to silver trucks again, these would look beautiful!!
Too bad... I really appreciate these Union Pacific letters on locomotives' sides, that are really part of this company's paintscheme. Dom
