Since I have been up in Austin working on a prototype car from the Texas Special this week, I dragged out an old photo of my N scale model of the train. Here it is with some of the E8s that Katy bought to pull the train.
Managed to finish a couple of cars this week! Atlas Kaolin Tank Car Kit, painted with Scalecoat II Black Paint and lettered with Islington Station Products decals. Cars were used to haul Clay Slurry to processing plants, car was built in 1980 and is probably still in use today. Kadee PS1 Boxcar Kit with Sliding Underframe, painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Orange and Black Paints, then lettered with Mask Island Decals. Car was built in 1964 for use hauling finished steel products from the US Steel plant in Gary, Indiana. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
I was lucky to have a very productive vacation week waiting for my summer semester to start. I finished all the plaster cloth and started putting detailed rock molds in. (using various tools to hold them in place!) I then formed The front removable mountain Then I started covering the mountain with plaster of Paris for the rocks. I was finally able to see a resemblance of the vision I had for the visible track/bridge scene Once the plaster had dried, I started painting the mountain using the same technique I did on the previous module, using a wash of woodland scenic pigments. Once the paint had dried I sealed in the color and then it started to snow...... Once the caulking dries, I will then paint it with acrylic titanium white paint, sprinkle some woodland scenics snow, and then a little bit of glitter. Hoping to get the lights installed on this module this weekend, we'll see!! Hope everyone has a great weekend! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Done: IMGP12988_GP38-2W_Finished by Mike VE2TRV posted May 19, 2017 at 8:58 PM Last touches, glued the cab down, first with CA and then "sutures" on the inside with Bondic. Modified the front handrails to fit the new cab nose. Putting Kadees on went unusually well - past experience with similar Proto coupler mounts was less amusing. The Athearn clip doesn't need filing to clear the thicker coupler shank of the Kadee. Also put in a LED headlamp in place of the standard Athearn bulb, but mounted near the front end of the clip coming up from the frame, to line up with the nose headlights. Reflected light still floods the cab but it's not as obvious as the regular bulb which was plainly visible inside the cab. Runs like a charm, and looks like a winner.
