    Folks
I figured I'd start inexpensively. I picked up a LokPilot Standard today, and put it in a Bmann Heavy Mountain. I wanted to see how much the motor control could be improved, before I started investing in sound.

It can be improved a lot!
    Accel 16 CV3
    Decel 16 CV4
    BEMF Ref V 80 CV 53
    BEMF K 10 CV 54
    BEMF I 50 CV 55
    Start 1
    Mid 18
    High 64
    And I'm happy
    My questions are
    1) Once the grinding stops, How do you find the "Best" CV 53, 54 , 55? I'm not noticing much change, once I get to "Good' Running.
    2) I'll keep reading, but can I get the Headlight to Dim? Edit - it won't matter, on this model 15 is the brightest setting. I'm not swapping the bulb, so the brightness is set
    3) The version LokPilot V4 Decoders (a little more expensive) Is the motor control improved?

    Thanks
Every BMann tender, that fits this, is probably getting one, unless I go sound.

Every ESU decoder has the same motor control software. You won't get further improvement with a V4. What the V4 has that the standard doesn't is the ability to work with other digital command protocols, some other bells and whistles for advanced lighting functions and soon the ability to implement the "drive hold" feature of the Full Throttle feature set in Loksound decoders. This is important if you want to use a non-sound engine with a sound-equipped one, which is unlikely with a steamer unless you plan on double-heading.

If I were doing a diesel that might be in an MU consist with a sound-equipped unit, I'd use a V.4. Otherwise, the standard should be fine.
